CSS Specificity explained

Important Interview Question for Web Developer : Box Sizing Border Box in CSS in Dept

11:50
Welcome, all we will see What is CSS Box Sizing in Hindi? The CSS box-sizing property allows us to include the padding and border in an element's total width and height. source code link: https://www.thapatechnical.com/ #boxSizingInCSS Without the CSS box-sizing Property By default, the width and height of an element is calculated like this: width + padding + border = actual width of an element height + padding + border = actual height of an element This means: When you set the width/height of an element, the element often appear bigger than you have set (because the element's border and padding are added to the element's specified width/height). Before and After pseudo elements explained - part one: how they work

09:08
The before and after pseudo elements are super useful part of CSS, but are often misunderstood. This is part of a three-part series where I look at how they work, and cool stuff we can do with them. In this video, I focus on what ::before and ::after even are and how we can use them, and even why we use the double colon before them, instead of a single one (it's to distinguish them from pseudo-classes, like :hover). One important thing with both the before and after pseudo elements is that they require us to define the content property. Without it, it defaults to none and, well, we can use it! --- New to Sass, or want to step up your game with it? CSS Tutorial — EM & REM, Relative Sizes (8/13)

05:15
CSS Tutorial — EM & REM, Relative Sizes (8/13) We covered absolute units like pixel values, and we covered relative units like percentage. Now let’s talk about another super important relative unit. EM. This is mostly used to size text. Sizing your fonts is absolutely crucial in having a good looking page. It’s one of the most important aspects of UI design. Typography. I mentioned default browser styles a couple of videos ago. Let’s look at H1 in Chrome. H1 has this weird font-size value of 2em. That line is the reason why H1 so big without you writing any CSS. But what is that? EM? EM is another relative unit of measurement, similar to percentage. EM always has a number in front of it. 2em, 3em, .5em. Font-size: 2em means, hey what is my expected font-size if I didn’t have any other CSS? I want my size to be 2 times that. Twice as big. So what is my expected Font-size? Font size is usually inherited from the parent, so say I have a font-size: 12px on the body tag. And I have a direct H1 child inside it with font size: 2em. That will make the H1 size automatically 24px, double its parent. Because it’s 2EM. So it’s almost like the H1 is listening directly to its parent. 3em, 3 times that or 1em, the same size as my parent. You can even do decimal points like .5, half, 50%, .2, 20%. This is useful because you can set font-size of the body to be whatever, and all its children that have their sizing in em will listen to that and resize immediately. This way you don’t have to specify how many pixels for every single child. You define it once on the body, and everybody will resize themselves. Except there’s one problem. EM inherits from the direct parent, not from the body. So in our example we’re lucky the H1 is directly on the body but... if you have children inside children, they’re going to affect each other’s size. Say you have a P tag with A tags inside it. Say body font size is 20px. If my P tag is 2em, that makes it 40px, and my A tag is 3em, that makes the A 3 times as big as the P, so 40x3, 120px. This can get really confusing really fast. I don’t like it. I know a bunch of you are gonna get mad at me cuz you disagree with me, and that’s ok. You can start your own ColorCode on youTube and call it ColorChode and make your own videos and disagree. Anyway, back to EM. In real world applications you have several layers of elements inside one another, so it becomes really difficult trying to find out how big something is if you use relative values and have to keep going up the chain of parents and calculate. What is .7em of 2em of .5em of 14 pixels? That’s cray cray. Lucky for us, there is a solution. And it’s a solution that I personally like a lot, it’s not perfect but it covers 99% of what I want. And that is REM. Root EM, whatever EM stands for. I probably should have googled that. HAHA Actually I did, And I didn’t find a satisfactory answer. Anyway, REM is the exact same thing as EM except it’s not relative to the inherited font size from the parent, it’s relative to the root element, your beloved HTML tag. Remember that guy? This means you can give your HTML element a size. Say 14px. And any element inside your page, anywhere, regardless of who their parent is, given an REM font size, will then resize relative to 14px. This is in my opinion the cleanest way to specify font size, have it be easy to read, and still flexible like EM. So,... I think it’s time for a demo. I just gave you aloooot of information. Let’s go back to our profile page and clean up them sizes using both absolute and relative units. I’ll see you there.

CSS Tutorial — Box Model (10/13)

04:23
CSS Tutorial — Box Model (10/13) You can be a great CSS developer when you understand how and why your elements are displayed the way they are. One of the most important things to really fully understand is where an element starts, and where it ends. Most people think they know. But they don’t really know. They just look at the text inside the element, or how its children are rendered. But that’s not always the correct representation of the spacing or even the sizing of that element. It can be very misleading. So in order for us to be 100% sure how an element is constructed and displayed, we need to talk about the Box Model. Every HTML element is considered to have an invisible box wrapped around it. You probably already think about elements that way. Oh look, we added a light green background to our sections and they seem to be these separate rectangular boxes. But what’s happening inside that box? Or even outside for that matter? In order to explain, I’ll use a simpler element like a paragraph and I’ll give it the same green background so you can see. Here’s what the box is made out of: CONTENT - what you see inside the box. In the context of a paragraph, content is text itself. In the case of our Sections in our profile, the children are the content. Ok so we got the content, the visible part. Then you have PADDING - Padding is the space between the content and the edges of the box. This gives you room to show your content without feeling so cramped and claustrophobic. This is sometimes referred to as negative space. So how do you add padding? Simple. Using the padding property, to change all sides at once, So let’s say padding: 20 pixels. or more specifically padding-top, right, bottom or left. Ok, so we got a little room to breath. Then there is the BORDER. The border of your element, which by default is 0, nothing, is still a part of your element. Remember we are still talking about the paragraph element, we’re not talking about a new border element or anything like that. This is still a part of the paragraph element. You can specify the border width, style and color. For example: BORDER… 3px… SOLID... ORANGE. Cool. Looking good. AAAAAAND finally you have this magical property called MARGIN. Margin is the space around the visible part of the element. Outside the borders. Margins are what allow neighboring elements to be laid out next to each other, without bumping into one another. And the way you change margin is very similar to padding, top, right, bottom left, except they start with margin. I guess this could also be considered negative space. I’m not a designer but I think every time you allow empty room for your content to breath you are essentially creating negative space. And that’s it. That’s the Box Model. So one more time, We got: CONTENT. PADDING. BORDER. MARGIN. This, is the box model. And it applies to every single element. There are small caveats when dealing with inline elements but we’ll get there. You can already see this for any of your elements, if you inspect it in chrome, and go to this helper tool under the style tag, it shows you exactly what I just talked about. So,... in the next video, we’re gonna take our page, and lay it out much much nicer using Box Model properties. See you there ;)

Introduction to Css in Pakistan || Css scope and course detail (part-1)

08:03
i appeared in css exams 2018 , i didn't prepared well as i was doing teaching job. even then I had read about 40% of syllabus and recommended books. I joined Kips academy to get a know how of css. I attempted all the papers with confidence and nothing seemed to be out of syllabus or recommended books. especially International Relations, which is taken as one of the difficult subjects, It just covered the news and current affairs that i had listened through news and talk shows on TV. so i performed pretty well in IR exam. Essay was a bit confusing for me as i couldn't chose the right topic within right time, also I was confused about essay time (narrative and descriptive) islamyat was good, because i chose Urdu medium for Islamiat US history was a bit hard but i am sure if i could have read all the book even one time i could do equally well in US HISTORY paper i will talk about some of most obvious mistakes that i have made in CSS exams, and i hope that you will learn something from them.

Front End Developer Tutorial: Easy Way to Understand the Before and After Pseudo Elements

07:19
As a front end developer, it's important to understand the before and after pseudo selectors. And so in this HTML tutorial, we'll walk through a dead simple explanation for how they work. And what we're gonna do is, we have our links right here on the menu and I want to add a little link icon right to the right of each one of them. Now technically I could just go to Font Awesome and then we could put an icon, place it inside of that H1 tag, but then we'd have to do it for each one of these elements. But what if we want to have every anchor tag in the entire application to have a link there? Well that is a perfect scenario for using an after, or a before pseudo selectors. Let's talk about what they are because they can look a little bit confusing if you've never seen them. But I think that after we walk through this demo, it's gonna make a lot more sense. Let's switch back to the code here, and we have right here our spicy H1 anchor tag. And we can get access to this, if we just look and we select an anchor link and then we grab the H1 tag inside of an anchor link. That's gonna give us exactly what we're looking for. Let me open up our helper's file and down below I'm gonna grab the anchor link and then after that, I'm gonna grab the H1 and then I'm going to add two semi-colons here, and I'll say before ... because I'm gonna show you both the before and after pseudo selectors. And this is a very different way of working with CSS because usually with CSS we don't render items in content directly on the page. But that's exactly what this pseudo selector allows us to do. What I'm going ... the attribute I'm gonna use is called content. And then content takes a string. Right here I'm going to say content, and let me just say I'm before. And then I'm going to copy this and now we're also going to create an after pseudo selector. And here I'm going to add just a little dash and here I'll say I'm after, and I'll put a dash and a space right there. Now if I hit save and come back and hit refresh, you can see that this added the actual content in the H1 link. We did not touch the HTML whatsoever. What before and after do is they allow you to select an item on the page and add content to it. This can be incredibly helpful because notice if you scroll down, this has been ... this has affected every one of the anchor tag H1s. And if you wanted to say, make a change that populated on hundreds of pages, this is a great way of doing it. If not, you'd have to go and find every single anchor tag in the entire system and then change it. That's really all that you need to do. Now I want to add an icon, so let's talk about what we can do in order to make that happen. I'm gonna get rid of this before tag here, and in the content I am going to add a unicode character. We need to switch back to the browser and let's go to Font Awesome here. Oop, not fonts Google, Font Awesome. And we're going to grab a link tag here, so let's type in link and then click on it. With Font Awesome, the traditional way that you use it is to simply grab their HTML elements in these little i tags. But you also have a few other options. You could get the actual glyphicon which is not something that I do very often. In fact I don't think I've ever done that. But this one is very helpful. This is a unicode representation of the icons. What this is going to allow us to do is to call this directly from within a CSS file. Because we can't call these class names, so we're gonna call this unicode. And this is going to allow us to treat it exactly like a font. Now inside of the content, I'm going to use an escape character, so this is gonna be a forward slash, or backward slash. And then from there I'm going to paste in that unicode character. I'm going to also add a space right there, just so we have a little bit of space between the content and our content tag. That is the content, but one other thing we have to do here is we have to bring in the font family. We have to use the Font Awesome font family, and this part's a little tricky and this required me the first time I had to do it on an app ... This took a little bit of debugging because you would think that you could just do something like this ... Where you call Font Awesome, but that technically doesn't work. And their documentation doesn't do a good job of explaining it, so you have to say, Font Awesome and then the version, so we're using version five, and then free. That is a little bit odd. There's also one other trick and this one was very frustrating because there was nothing in the documentation that explained it. But Font Awesome also requires for their free icons, you to only use a certain font weight... Programming Tip Of The Day #9: Lang Attribute in HTML in Hindi | Why Lang Attr. is so Important?

05:43
Welcome, all we will see lang attribute in HTML in Hindi and Why lang attribute is so important to include in HTML. Why should I use the language attribute in web pages? The lang (or sometimes the XML: lang ) attribute specifies the natural language of the content of a web page. An attribute on the HTML tag sets the language for all the text on the page. If part of the page uses text in a different language, you can add a language attribute with a different value to the element that surrounds that content. For information about how to use language attributes see Declaring language in HTML. HTML lang attribute in Hindi Identifying the language of your content allows you to automatically do a number of things, from changing the look and behavior of a page to extracting information, to changing the way that an application works. Some language applications work at the level of the document as a whole, some work on appropriately labeled document fragments. It is best to add language information to your content now in order to be able to reap the benefits when new developments arise. It is simple to do when creating content, but more difficult to retrofit later. Guys, Please support my channel by SUBSCRIBE to my channel and share my videos in your Social Network TimeLines.
