Atlantic and Pacific oceans joining at a point in mid ocean but do not mix each other | Unbelievable

On the temperature, salinity, and density differences between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans in the upper kilometre. Abstract The surface of the Pacific Ocean stands about 40 cm higher than the Atlantic Ocean with respect to the 1000-decibar surface, and the North Atlantic and North Pacific stand respectively about 14 and 17 cm higher than the South Atlantic and Pacific. The North Atlantic is warmest and saltiest, the South Atlantic is coldest and densest, and the North Pacific is least dense and least salty. The extreme values in temperature and salinity of the North Atlantic are probably related to the formation of the deep water there, which carries away from the upper layer the cold water of relatively low salinity. If this water spreads into the South Atlantic at depth and is replaced with warm saline surface water from the South Atlantic via the South Equatorial Current and the Gulf Stream, then the South Atlantic should be substantially cooler and less salty. The difference in density and sea level of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans may stem from the difference in latitude of the southern tips of America, Africa, and Australia, and the constriction of the west wind drift at Drake Strait. Only the densest surface waters of the Pacific pass through to the Atlantic, while lighter waters from lower latitudes of the South Atlantic pass eastward south of Africa. Further, the constriction of the flow by Drake Strait may result in a higher sea level on the Pacific side through the effect of Windstau (Montgomery, 1938). The density difference between the southern and northern oceans may be partly a consequence of the west wind drift around Antarctica. This is the greatest current of all oceans. Its flow is approximately geostrophically balanced and the surface slopes down to the south. The northern west wind drifts are not so strong, are at lower latitudes, and the high latitude flow is westward with slope upward to the north. These differences are not confined to the upper thousand metres. The average density difference between the Atlantic and the Pacific from the surface to the bottom is about 17 × 10−5 g/cm3. Referred to some deep surface such as 4000 decibars, the Pacific stands about 68 cm higher than the Atlantic.

Located in the North Atlantic Ocean between the tip of Florida, Puerto Rico, and Bermuda. Also known as the Devil’s Triangle, the Bermuda Triangle has been the location of numerous disappearances from airplanes to ships of various occupations. The craziest part about these disappearances is that they seem to defy all logic and science, and have inspired some of the most interesting theories that man can come up with. Some of these theories include aliens, the lost city of Atlantis, ghosts, just to name a few. Reports of odd things happening in the area even go as far as 1492 when Christopher Columbus reported seeing strange lights and activities when he was sailing in the area. One of the earliest disappearances goes back to 1881 with the Ellen Austin. The ship was known to many numerous trips back and forth between London and New York City. During one of these journeys, the Ellen Austin ran into another ship moving fast in the Bermuda Triangle. But the Ellen Austin crew were startled to find that this ship had no crew. They decided to split in half and navigate the ship back to London. While trying to get out of the Bermuda Triangle, a storm hit and separated the two ships. The Ellen Austin completely disappeared and was never heard from again. What is rather interesting is the amount of disappearances that have taken place in the 1940’s and 1950’s involving military related ships and aircraft. Perhaps there were some stealthy military action by the enemies back then, or perhaps the Triangle was reacting to the turmoil taking place around the world. But one cannot deny the apparent coincidence of these disappearances and the timeline they land on. Even after World War II was over, disappearances were at their all-time high. For example, from 1945 to 1949, there were several disappearances that resulted in the loss of many lives from lost aircraft. One of the most famous cases was Flight 19, which was a name given to five bomber planes that disappeared over the Bermuda Triangle in 1945. Initially, people tried to blame Germany, but there was no evidence of any enemy involvement in the loss. In fact, the five planes were never seen or heard from again, which is nearly impossible given that five fighter planes were lost. Between 1948 and 1949, two Piper jets disappeared. Because these two jets had limited radar communication, it’s hard to determine the exact time that the disappearances happened, but they were definitely lost over the Bermuda Triangle, both in the month of January, just 13 days apart. Some people may call it a coincidence, while others use the timeline as evidence that perhaps intelligent life was at work during these disappearances. For more Bermuda Triangle disappearances, check out the rest of this video. After it’s over, you may want to reconsider taking any flights or cruises that go through the Bermuda Triangle. Here is the top list of mysterious sunken underwater cities in the world found underwater! Yonaguni Pyramids In the mid 80s, Divers found underwater rock terraces and pyramids off the coast of Yonaguni Jima. Yonaguni Jima is an island that lies near the southern tip of Japan's Ryukyu archipelago, About 75 miles off the eastern coast of Taiwan. At first scientists believed they might be natural formations, but There are quarry marks and some writing on the stones and animal statues that have also been found underwater. Now some experts believe that The structures Could be what is left of the mythical city of Mu, a fabled Pacific civilization rumored to have vanished beneath the waves. Masaki Kimura, a marine geologist from the University of Japan, Has been studying the underwater pyramids for over 15 years. The underwater structures include castle ruins, a triumphal arch, five temples and at least one large stadium, all of which are Connected by roads and water channels and are partly shielded by what could be huge retaining walls. Kimura believes the ruins date back to at least 5,000 years, based on the dates of stalactites found inside underwater caves that he says sank with the city. The theory is that the ancient underwater city Might have been sunk by an earthquake or tsunami around 2,000 years ago. Yonaguni invites tourists and researchers to dive freely around the site. 2. Sunken City of Cuba In 2001, A company called Advanced Digital Communications (ADC) was working with Fidel Castro's government to explore Cuban waters looking for sunken Spanish ships loaded with treasure. Their Sonar equipment picked up a series of geometrical structures lying on the bottom of the ocean. Here's a computer generated image of the pyramids and other structures found underwater. The structures and design made it look like there was A gigantic underwater city at the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle. The media went crazy claiming that Atlantis had been discovered in Cuba. There are local legends of the Maya and native Yucatecos that tell of an Island inhabited by their ancestors that vanished beneath the waves. If it's true the structures were made by an ancient civilization, they would have been the Most technologically advanced structures on the planet at that time. Scientists estimate that they would have been built about 50,000 years ago which doesn't seem very likely. The numerous structures and cities that have been discovered underwater around the world Lie less than 120 meters (or 395 feet) below sea level, which comes as no surprise since the sea level never fell below this mark during the time Homo sapiens walked the earth. This Cuban city, if we can call it that, is the Only exception since It is submerged over 700 meters (2300 feet) underwater. If the large structures are actually pyramids, 2 of them are Even larger than the pyramids of Giza and Cheops in Egypt. As of yet there is no plausible explanation for the existence of this city and ADC is still trying to investigate the site. 3. Lake Titicaca Lake Titicaca is Located in the Andes between Bolivia and Peru. It is the largest freshwater lake in South America and was the cradle of Peru's ancient civilizations, including the Inca. Their presence can be seen on Lake Titicaca by the ruins they left behind, including A mysterious underwater temple thought to be between 1,000 and 1,500 years old. In the Incan creation myth, The god Con Tiqui Viracocha emerged from Lake Titicaca. After commanding the sun, moon, and the stars to rise, Viracocha created more human beings from stone. After bringing them to life, Viracocha Commanded them to go and populate the world. The Incas therefore believed that Lake Titicaca was their place of origin, and that upon death, Their spirits would return to this lake. Archeologists located a huge temple in 2000 after following a submerged road (and I'm sure following advice from locals). After 18 days of diving below the clear waters of Titicaca, scientists said they had Discovered a 660-foot long, 160-foot wide temple, a terrace for crops, and a 2,600-foot containing wall along with gold and statues. It is said the lost city was Covered with sediment during a great flood of biblical proportions and local people had passed down the stories of the underwater temple and flood from generation to generation.

Animals in the Antarctic Ice

07:17
Animals in the Antarctic Ice The wildlife of Antarctica are extremophiles, having to adapt to the dryness, low temperatures, and high exposure common in Antartica. The extreme weather of the interior contrasts to the relatively mild conditions on the Antarctic Peninsula and the subantarctic islands, which have warmer temperatures and more liquid water. Much of the ocean around the mainland is covered by sea ice. The oceans themselves are a more stable environment for life, both in the water column and on the seabed. The Antarctic ice sheet is one of the two polar ice caps of the Earth. It covers about 98% of the Antarctic continent and is the largest single mass of ice on Earth. It covers an area of almost 14 million square km and contains 26.5 million cubic km of ice.[2] That is, approximately 61 percent of all fresh water on the Earth is held in the Antarctic ice sheet, an amount equivalent to 70 m of water in the world's oceans. In East Antarctica, the ice sheet rests on a major land mass, but in West Antarctica the bed can extend to more than 2,500 m below sea level. The land in this area would be seabed if the ice sheet were not there.

10 Unsolved Cases of Abandoned Ships

Unsolved cases of abandoned ships! Mysterious shipwrecks found in the ocean. Here are unexplained abandoned boats. Support our Patreon today: https://www.patreon.com/theywillkillyou Subscribe for new videos: http://goo.gl/SaufF4 Follow us on Instagram: @theywillkillyou Voiceover by Carl Mason: [email protected] 10 Lunatic Jure Šterk was an experienced sailor who single handedly sailed around the world between 1991 & 1994 Throughout his sailing career he crossed the Pacific Ocean once the Indian Ocean twice & the Atlantic Ocean a staggering eight times. In December 2007, when he was 70 years old, Šterk embarked on a journey around the world on his sail boat. His only form of communication was an amateur radio & the last time he checked in was on January 1st, 2009. 9 Tai Ching 21 On November 9th 2008, the Tai Ching 21, a 50 ton Taiwanese fishing vessel, was found adrift in the Pacific Ocean, near Kiribati. The last transmission from the ship had been made on October 28th. The Tai Ching 21 was empty, all 29 crew members were gone. One strange thing is that no mayday call had been put out. An area of the ocean north of Fiji, measuring around 21,000 square miles, was searched by US & New Zealand aircrafts but no trace of the ship’s captain or crew was ever found. 8 Jian Seng This 260-foot tanker was spotted by an Australian Coastwatch airplane in 2006. The vessel was drifting in the Gulf of Carpentaria, around 110 miles south-west of Weipa, Queensland. Several documents were found indicating that the tanker was called ‘Jian Seng’, although a number of identifying features, including the name had been painted over. The engines were inoperable & the boarding party was unable to restart them which lead them to the conclusion that the Jian Seng had been adrift for a very long time. 7 High Aim 6 On January 8th 2003, the High Aim 6 was discovered drifting in Australian waters, around 80 nautical miles from Rowley Shoals. The ship was sailing under an Indonesian flag & had been registered in Taiwan. No crew members were found onboard despite the fact that the ship had plenty of provisions & fuel. The High Aim 6 had been sighted five days before it was boarded. At that time the motor was functional & the ship was underway. 6 Resolven Sailors from the HMS Mallard found the Resolven merchant brig drifting at sea on August 29th 1884. They tried ignaling its crew but didn’t get a response & decided to board the ship. They found that all Resolven crew members were gone even though there were signs that the ship had recently been lived in. 5 Sea Bird The grounded Sea Bird was discovered at Easton Beach, Rhode Island in 1750 or 1760. The Sea Bird appeared to have been abandoned in sight of land. Food was laid on the table & coffee was boiling on the stove in the galley. 4 Baychimo The Baychimo became trapped in an ice pack, near the town of Barrow, Alaska. The ships cargo consisted of furs & when the crew returned to retrieve them the ship had broken free. On October 8th 1931, the vessel became mired again & some of the crew were taken by aircraft while 15 men stayed behind. They intended to wait out the winter. The Baychimo didn’t sink. It was spotted many times over the next few decades. 3 Koreas Ghost Boats Over one hundred ill-equipped small wooden boats were discovered in Japanese waters between 2013 & 2017. The only clues regarding their origin were signs written in Korean. The most troubling aspect of this discovery were the contents of the mysterious vessels. Nobody knows what happened to the sailors, who were all dressed in civilian clothing. 2 Carrol A. Deering The Carrol A. Deering became derelict in unknown circumstances on January 28th 1921 after passing a Cape Lookout lightship in North Carolina. Three days later the ship was found run aground on Diamond Shoals, off the coast of Cape Hatteras. Its crew was gone, along with their belongings, the ship’s log & navigation equipment. 1 Mary Celeste The Mary Celeste is perhaps the most famous abandoned ship in history. Since it was discovered adrift in the Atlantic Ocean, it has been the inspiration for numerous documentaries, plays, films & novels. On November 7th 1872, the Mary Celeste left New York City & set sail for Genoa, Italy, with a cargo consisting of over 1,700 barrels of alcohol. 10 people were onboard, including Captain Benjamin Spooner Briggs, his wife Sarah & their two-year-old daughter Sophia Matilda. During the course of the next two weeks, the vessel reportedly encountered harsh weather. The last log entry was marked November 25th & indicated that the Mary Celeste was approximately 9 nautical miles from the Azores Islands.

USS Midway (CV-41) in Arctic Tests - March 1946

02:08
USS Midway, first of a three-ship class of 45,000-ton large aircraft carriers, was built at Newport News, Virginia, and commissioned in September 1945. Following shakedown, she began eight years' service with the Atlantic Fleet. In March 1946, Midway made an cruise to Arctic waters for experimental cold weather operations. The following year, her flight deck was the site of a at-sea test launching of an ex-German V-2 ballistic missile. Also in 1947, the carrier undertook the first of several Sixth Fleet tours in the Mediterranean sea. She also periodically deployed to North Atlantic waters, including participation in the NATO Operation "Mainbrace" in 1952. In October of that year, she was reclassified an attack aircraft carrier, changing her hull number from CVB-41 to CVA-41 Late in 1954, Midway left the Atlantic, steaming past the Cape of Good Hope to join the Seventh Fleet in the Far East. In September 1955, following this cruise, she entered the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for the first of her two major modernizations. Recommissioned two years later, as the work neared completion, Midway now had an angled flight deck, enclosed bow, three steam catapults and other features that enabled her to better operate high-performance aircraft. She conducted a Seventh Fleet deployment in 1958 and was a regular visitor to Asiatic waters during the next eight years. Her 1965 Far Eastern tour included active participation in the then-expanding Vietnam War. From February 1966 until mid-1970, Midway was again in shipyard hands, receiving an extensive modernization that included installation of a greatly enlarged flight deck. Upon her return to commissioned service, Midway again took part in Southeast Asian conflict combat operations. In October 1973, she changed her homeport to Yokosuka, Japan, allowing the Navy to maintain a greater carrier presence in the Far East than would have been possible from a U.S. base. During this time, she was active in the Western Pacific, Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf areas. The ship was redesignated CV-41 in June 1975 and received a major refit in 1986. In 1990-91, Midway participated in Operations "Desert Shield" and "Desert Storm", which contained and then reversed Iraqi aggression against Kuwait. After additional activity in the Philippines area and elsewhere in the Seventh Fleet area, the ship returned to the United States for the first time in some eighteen years. USS Midway was decommissioned in April 1992 and placed in the Reserve Fleet. Stricken from the Naval Vessel Register in March 1997, during 2003-2004 she was converted to a museum and is now a prominent attraction at San Diego, California, .

Bombing the Arctic: US Navy War Games in Gulf of Alaska Threaten One of World’s Most Pristine Areas

11:54
http://democracynow.org - The U.S. Navy is set to begin a major war exercise in the Gulf of Alaska amid protests from local communities concerned about environmental damage. The Navy is reportedly unleashing thousands of sailors, soldiers, airmen, marines and Coast Guard members along with several Navy destroyers, hundreds of aircrafts, untold weaponry and a submarine for the naval exercises. The Gulf of Alaska is one of the most pristine places left on Earth; the region includes critical habitat for all five wild Alaskan salmon species and 377 other species of marine life. The Navy’s planned live bombing runs will entail the detonation of tens of thousands of pounds of toxic munitions, as well as the use of active sonar in fisheries. The Navy has conducted war games in the Gulf of Alaska, on and off, for the last 30 years, but these new exercises are the largest by far. They come at a time when scientists are increasingly worried about climate change causing Arctic melting. Meanwhile, the unprecedented melting has created an opportunity for the military to expand its operations into previously inaccessible terrain. We are joined by Dahr Jamail, staff reporter at Truthout, whose latest piece is "Destroying What Remains: How the US Navy Plans to War Game the Arctic." Snowy Owls Along the Washington Coast

02:41
During the winter of 2011 and 2012, Snowy Owls migrated down from their arctic home to spend the winter along the northern tier of American states and in the southern parts of Canadian provinces. They were sighted wherever there were large expanses of open land without trees, such as airports, lake shores, and sea coasts. In this video, Karen Rentz captures highlights of observing about ten owls in Damon Point State Park, along the Pacific Ocean coast of Washington State. It was a thrilling experience to see all these owls!

Tahiti is a peaceful island in the Pacific Ocean - but its unique cyclone-shaped wave seems almost designed for creating casualties.Dylan and Laurie were the first tow team who really defeated the gigantic monster, going deep into the maw of the wave -- and coming out. Teahupo'os wave turned into a thick wall of water, tall as an 18-20 foot colossal, sucking upwards all the time and exploding like a bomb. Only fearless hellmen and woman giving it one try after another succeeded. This is the story of Code Red.

I edit my movies with iMovie, and the program has just recently started having trouble rendering photos. If you have any idea how to fix this problem, please contact me or leave a comment below. Thanks!
