Moldovan President Igor Dodon and Chairman of the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Tigran Sargsyan signed a memorandum on cooperation between Moldova and the Russian-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) at a signing ceremony in Chisinau on Monday. The Moldovan head of state stated that this would mark the first step towards restoring a strategic partnership with Russia and establishing a dialogue on mutually beneficial economic cooperation. Moldova's ruling coalition is reportedly against the signing of the memorandum with Prime Minister Pavel Filip having stated that the document has no legal basis.

The 46th meeting of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation organisation has opened in Romanian capital Bucharest. Among the12 members attending are Russia and Turkey. Diplomats had expressed hopes ahead of the summit that it could offer a chance for Ankara and Moscow to re-build ties. The two have seen relations fall dramatically since Turkey shot down a Russian jet near the Turkish-Syrian border last month. In spite of such conflicts, the host of the meeting attempted to strike a positive note. 15 STRANGE Places In Ukraine !

10:14
From the catacombs of Odessa to the mysterious places in the Chernobyl exclusion zone here are 15 strange places in Ukraine Subscribe to American Eye http://goo.gl/GBphkv 5. The Elephant’s Foot The hot toxic sludge we see in this image is still to this day, extremely lethal. If you’re exposed to it for only 30 seconds, you’ll experience severe radiation sickness. Stand next to this for four minutes and you’ll only have two days to live. When people say a nuclear meltdown happened here, that’s literally what happened. The radioactive materials used to fuel this plant literally melted the core, and that’s basically what we’re looking at.. 4. Amusement Park At one point in time, about 30 years ago, this playground was teeming with kids and was a popular location until the world’s worst nuclear accidents happened at the Chernobyl plant near Pripyat. You won’t be taking your kid here anytime. Not only due to the fact that it’s extremely creepy but it’s apart of the Chernobyl exclusion zone. This means your kid would suffer from radiation poisoning if he even manages to step foot here. This playground in this photo still stands despite the disaster that took place. Pripyat had many facilities that the families of the power plant workers could enjoy but they never had the chance to enjoy this amusement park. It was set to open on May 1st 1986, just weeks after the meltdown took place. The radiation levels here vary and it’s believe that helicopters carrying radioactive material used this place as a landing strip. 3. Golden Gate, Kiev Did you think the golden gate in san francisco was the only gate out there? Think again! There’s a golden gate in the capital city of Kiev which is apart of 11th century fortifications of the old town. Faced with the threat of having to deal with barbarians from various directions, Kiev made the decision t o build the wall that would protect them. One part of fortifications was the zoloti Vorota which was rather for ceremonial purposes. After the mongols badly damaged the wall, it was buried but then rediscovered in 1832. Later on, it was rebuilt by the soviets in 1982 in which many believe to be a botched repairation. Historians wanted the soviets to show the real facade of the gate without renovations. 2. Unidentified Building Walking through a park in dnipro city, a photographer came across this odd looking building near a pond during winter. It seems possible to come across ruins such as this while doing some hiking in Ukraine but many projects we didn’t know about could still be out there, waiting to be explored. This could be anything from a missile silo to an auditorium similar to ones found in Bulgaria. What do you think this was used for? Let us know in the comment section and maybe we’ll feature you in an upcoming video 1. Balaklava Submarine Base The soviets certainly had their fair share of strange military bases as well and in this photo we see the blue and green waters of this base located under the city of Sevastopol in the Black Sea. What’s a little strange about this place is that it’s so secretive and so far inland because of the natural canal-like features. This formerly classified sub base was in full use up until 1993 and it certainly had the capability of putting nuclear subs into the mediterranean sea. The Russians called this place “Balaklava” and there was plenty of munitions stored here. When the facility was decommissioned, no one still knows exactly where the Soviets put the weapons and it remains a mystery. It’s known that triton submarines once patrolled the seas and operated here and maybe they still do. Now that the Russian’s have reclaimed Crimea, could they possibly still be using this underground submarine base?

5 meetings in 11 months, what will Russia-Turkey rapprochement bring about?

02:39
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday hosted his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan for bilateral talks in the Black Sea resort of Sochi. The two leaders have met a record five times since July as part of rapprochement efforts after Turkey shot down a Russian bomber over Syria. The relationship has still not fully recovered however. And with Erdogan due to travel to Washington and Brussels, can he really juggle NATO and Russia? The Point talks to Ferit Temur, a specialist in Russian and Eurasian affairs; Lilit Gevorgyan, a senior economist at IHS Markit; and Huseyin Bagci, a political analyst from Middle East Technical University. Russia: Gazprom CEO briefs Putin on major new planned pipeline to S. Europe

01:44
Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller briefed Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Monday, on proposals to build a new gas pipeline under the Black Sea, that would run from the Russian gas giant's facilities in Azerbaijan and onwards to Greece and southern Italy. SOT, Alexei Miller, Gazprom CEO (Russian): "In Rome we signed a memorandum on the advantages of building a gas pipeline from Russia to Greece under the Black Sea, transiting through a third of the country and then on to Italy. The memorandum provides for technical and economic assessments before the end of 2016." SOT, Alexei Miller, Gazprom CEO (Russian): "Together with our European partners we base our work on the project that has already been developed by our Greek, Italian and French colleagues. The so-called Project Poseidon would see 12 billion cubic metres of Azeri gas go from Greece under the Ionian Sea and on to southern Italy." SOT, Alexei Miller, Gazprom CEO (Russian): "I met with Italy's economic development minister yesterday who supported the project. The Greek Foreign Ministry's general secretary was also present at the signing. The Greek government has also expressed support for this project." SOT, Alexei Miller, Gazprom CEO (Russian): "The new construction projects of the gas transit route to Europe and in North-Western Europe are, without a doubt, economically viable projects that are supported by a growing demand, which we are currently experiencing." Donald Trump's Soft Disclosure and the Space Force - ROBERT SEPEHR

14:24
If anti-gravity and free energy technology exists, as some have claimed, then why is it being kept secret? Could there really be a breakaway civilization that uses such advanced technology, or a secret space force, as some eyewitnesses have claimed. And if so, how would the government go about disclosing any of this, assuming it actually wanted to? https://atlanteangardens.blogspot.com/2018/09/trumps-soft-disclosure-and-new-space.html The United States Department of Defense has recently laid out a plan to build a new Space Force to defend U.S. interests in space with aggressive offensive capabilities. This would include systems that could “degrade, deny, disrupt, destroy, and manipulate adversary capabilities.” Robert Sepehr is an author, producer, and independent anthropologist. Russia’s Naval Strategy in the Indian Ocean

Russia’s Naval Strategy in the Indian Ocean The Russian Navy isn’t usually the first branch of the Armed Forces that comes to mind when thinking about the country’s military, but it nevertheless has taken on a heightened strategic importance over the past few years following its participation in the anti-terrorist campaign in Syria, most notably through the launching of its Kalibr cruise missiles from positions in the Caspian and Eastern Mediterranean Seas. President Putin also announced during the Navy Day celebrations in Saint Petersburg that his country’s flotilla will receive 26 new ships by the end of the year, further emphasizing the significance of naval assets for Russia’s grand strategy. There are plenty of uses that Russia’s five existing fleets (Baltic, Black, Caspian, Northern, and Pacific) can have in advancing Moscow’s defensive designs across the 21st century, but this piece proposes that the country’s navy might begin expanding its scope of operations to the Afro-Bengal Ocean (still popularly known by its colonial-era name as the “Indian Ocean”). There was already a very minor presence here during the last decade in the Gulf of Aden in order to support the international mission against piracy in the region, but two recent developments point to a more pronounced shift towards this highly strategic southern body of water . The first is that Pakistan’s Vice Chief of Naval Staff visited Saint Petersburg and signed a Memorandum of Understand (MoU) with the Russian Navy, which coincided not just with Russia’s Navy Day celebrations, but also the first-ever visit of the Pakistani Navy to the Baltic Sea. Shortly afterwards, news reports circulated that Russia had earlier proposed a LEMOA-like logistics agreement with India, though one that supposedly has to do more with servicing equipment than using the host country’s facilities for de-facto forward-operating purposes like the Americans have in mind. Taken together, it’s clear that Russia is trying to “balance” Pakistan and India in the Afro-Bengal Ocean. At this point, it’s important to comment on Russia’s strategy of “military diplomacy”, which seeks to maintain the balance of power between multiple pairs of rival states through arms shipments and other forms of military cooperation with both. In the relevant context, this explains why Russia continues to export billions of dollars of weaponry to India while expanding its anti-terrorist military cooperation with Pakistan to the naval realm. Keeping this nuanced policy in mind, it wouldn’t be surprising if Russia’s offer to sell its Kalibr-armed Karakurt corvettes to India, Vietnam, and China was broadened to also include Pakistan one day in order to maintain the greatest degree of “balance” in the Afro-Pacific. After all, the India-China and Vietnam-China pairs of rivaling states form the basis of Russia’s “balancing act” in Asia, especially its military component, but relentless American and “Israeli” inroads into India’s military-industrial complex in recent years have chipped away at Moscow’s former dominance of this sphere and compelled it to diversify its Asian arms portfolio. This is one of the many reasons why Russia is engaging in unprecedented levels of military cooperation with Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan as part of its “Ummah Pivot”, so it would follow that naval sales to Pakistan might eventually become a part of this larger strategy, especially if India rebuffs Russia’s LEMOA-like proposal because of American pressure. Looking beyond the indirect regional presence established through “military diplomacy”, Russia will soon have other reasons to directly involve itself in the Afro-Bengal Ocean if its prospective offshore Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) pipeline is ever built. All Great Powers have an interest in defending such multibillion-dollar investments, and Russia is no different. It could also be drawn closer to this body of water through any forthcoming energy cooperation with India and Myanmar, and especially if it acquires a foothold in the LNG-rich countries of Tanzania and Mozambique as part of its plan to become one of Africa’s main energy partners. Through these means, Russia’s “energy diplomacy” could actually drive its “military diplomacy”. Fielding a flotilla in the Afro-Bengal Ocean isn’t just about simple pragmatism and the tangible defense of one’s national interests, but is also increasingly taking on a very influential prestige component whereby all emerging and established powers are subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9IFRHTtYJFjhI5fBrLIJiQ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DNA997

Crimea frightens NATO officers

01:33
The North Atlantic Alliance refused to send its representatives to any military drills in Crimea despite official invitation of the Russian Defence Ministry. It motivated the refusal with the fact that Russia had carried out the Caucasus 2016 drills in the territory of Crimea, which is still regarded by NATO as ‘part of Ukraine’. The refusal itself has been officially registered without specification of reasons. As Pravda.Ru reported, the Caucasus 2016 exercises have been the biggest ones since Crimea joined Russia. ‘Representatives of the NATO countries were invited, but didn’t come, - a source said, - Moreover, we didn’t get any intelligible answer on the reasons of refusal either from military attaches, or any other channels’. Such state of affairs puts the Russian Defence Ministry in a difficult situation, as in response to a gesture of goodwill and attempts to act as transparently as possible, it faces veiled unwillingness to cooperate. Some Western mass media tried to represent ordinary military drills in the Southern military district as a training to invade Ukraine. However, no representative of the Western countries visited the Caucasus 2016. There were observers from China, Vietnam, Mongolia, Venezuela, the CIS countries and various African states. Vladimir Komoyedov, Head of the State Duma Committee on Defence and former Commander of the Black Sea fleet, believes that the NATO has just seized the opportunity to accuse Russia of aggression, although the Russian military made everything possible so that no one doubts about defencive legend of the drills. US creating ‘permanent war zone’ around Russia

02:16
The US strategy of economic sanctions against Russia is designed to create a “permanent war zone” in that region and cause chaos in the Russian economy, a geopolitical analyst in Europe says. “When we are looking at the strategy of the US towards Russia, it is to force Russia to capitulate,” said Joaquin Flores, director of the Center for Syncretic Studies in Belgrade, Serbia. “Ultimately, one thing they would like to do is to create a permanent war zone or a permanent area of armed conflict right in its historical sphere of influence,” Flores told Press TV on Friday. The US is also looking to “create chaos within its economic system which is aimed at getting different elements of the elites in economic power circles in Russia to turn against the government and to side with the US interest,” he indicated. On Thursday, US President Barack Obama signed a new Russian sanctions bill into law over the crisis in Ukraine. Ties between United States and Russia have deteriorated over the crisis in Ukraine. The US and its allies accuse Moscow of sending troops into eastern Ukraine in support of the pro-Russian forces. Russia, however, denies the accusation. Tensions between Washington and Moscow began to escalate in April after the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea seceded from Ukraine and reunited with the Russian Federation following a referendum a month earlier. “The US has increased its bellicosity, it is on a war footing and it is definitely trying to create the sense in the international community and within the military-industrial-complex that war is on the horizon,” Flores concluded. American Role In Russia-Ukraine War, Explained

What You Need To Know: ✓ The United States is committed to helping Ukraine defend itself in the conflict with Russia… The U.S currently has 300 soldiers stationed in Yavoriv and its soldiers are working together with Ukrainian solders on counter-fire radar, medical training, and basic defensive tasks; ✓ While Hodges believes that Ukraine has done a good job in their obligations, “the Russians and their proxies are not observing the ceasefire correctly;” ✓ “The United States army and Europe is completely focused on being ready to support our allies, to support our friends to demonstrate our commitment;” ✓ Strengthening the Eastern Frontier: apart from trainings in Ukraine, the U.S. and NATO will conduct other exercises in Eastern European countries in the coming months, and will create a permanent rotation. The United States is committed to helping Ukraine defend itself in the conflict with Russia says Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, the US Army commander for Europe. The U.S currently has 300 soldiers stationed in Yavoriv and its soldiers are working together with Ukrainian solders on counter fire radar, medical training, and basic defensive tasks. Hodges is impressed with Ukraine’s commitment in developing a training center, and believes that President Poroshenko’s announcement to improve the NCOs there will help soldiers in the ATO be successful. While Hodges believes that Ukraine has done a good job in their obligations, “the Russians and their proxies are not observing the ceasefire correctly,” he says adding that “Russia would like to tear apart the unity of the EU, tear apart the unity of NATO to create weakness and division.” Much of what Russia has done is to confuse people to and to make it difficult to understand what’s actually going on. The number one priority of both the United States and NATO in the conflict according to Hodges, is to deter further aggression. “The NATO summit in Warsaw will show the alliance transitioning from assurance to deterrence, ” he says, adding that “the United States army and Europe is completely focused on being ready to support our allies, to support our friends to demonstrate our commitment.” In terms of strengthening the Eastern Frontier, apart from trainings in Ukraine, the U.S. and NATO will conduct other exercises in Eastern European countries in the coming months, and will create a permanent rotation -- a brigade made up of 4000 soldiers, tanks, infantry vehicles, artillery vehicles -- which will be stationed for nine months at a time in Baltic countries, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria. They will conduct training in each of those areas and will occasionally come together to demonstrate how quickly they can move. Pacific Islands Cetaceans Memorandum of Understanding - Video Learning - WizScience.com

02:09
"The Memorandum of Understanding for the Conservation of Cetaceans and their Habitats in the Pacific Island Region" is a Multilateral Environmental Memorandum of Understanding concluded under the auspices of the Convention on Migratory Species of Wild Animals , also known as the Bonn Convention, and in collaboration with the Pacific Regional Environment Programme . The MoU provides an international framework for coordinated conservation efforts to improve the conservation status of the Pacific Islands Cetaceans and came into effect on 15 September 2006. The MoU covers 22 range States , New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, United Kingdom , United States , Vanuatu and Wallis and Futuna ). As of September 2012, 15 States have signed the MoU as well as a number of co-operating organisations. Whales and dolphins migrate over large distances, connecting ocean ecosystems and cultures throughout the Pacific Islands Region. Despite restrictions on commercial hunting imposed by the International Whaling Commission, such as the international moratorium on whaling, populations have not recovered to pre-whaling levels and many species are listed in the highest risk categories of the IUCN Red List. To provide a framework for governments, scientists and other to monitor and co-ordinate conservation efforts, a MoU was launched on 15 September 2006. The Philippine Coast Guard has New System of motorboats and other vessels for Security in Negros

04:43
DUMAGUETE CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard in Negros Oriental is gaining headway in its Safety and Security Environmental Numbering (SSEN) System of motorboats and other vessels as mandated by law. Lt. Junior Grade Donna Liza Ramacho, commander of the Coast Guard Station in Dumaguete City, the provincial capital of Negros Oriental, disclosed Thursday afternoon that over 1,000 vessels have already been SSEN-registered in their area of operations. The Coast Guard here covers the provinces of Negros Oriental and Siquijor. Ramacho explained that in Dumaguete City alone, they have already conducted the SSEN vessel registration in Barangays Calindagan, Looc, Tinago and a few other coastal areas. The same is true with the Tandayag, Amlan CG Sub-station which covers Tanjay City and Bais City, the Bayawan City CG Sub-station covering the southern towns, the Guihulngan City CG Sub-station in the north and the whole of Siquijor province, she said. The SSEN vessel registration is mandated under the Department of Transportation Memorandum Circular ‎‎2017-001, dated May 31, 2017, in response to the Marawi siege/crisis last year, according to her. President Rodrigo Duterte had ordered to expedite the implementation of this memorandum circular to help monitor terrorists at sea, which is the easiest and most convenient escape route for them, Ramacho pointed out. Some Coast Guard stations in Mindanao are already, in fact, conducting apprehensions now of vessels that have not been registered under the SSEN, as their registration is already 100 percent complete. For the Coast Guard Station in Dumaguete, they target to finish in their AOR the SSEN vessel registration hopefully before the end of the 2nd quarter of this year, Ramacho said. She reminded owners and operators of vessels, though, that even if their units are SSEN-registered, they are still subject to apprehension if found with other violations, such as safety requirements of the Maritime Industry Authority. The Coast Guard personnel in the different areas here personally go to the barangays for the registration of the vessels, and paint them with the code and serial number assigned to each unit in the port and starboard sides of the vessel. The SSEN vessel registration is for free. With the serial numbers assigned to these vessels, Lt. Junior Grade Ramacho noted that law enforcement will receive a boost as it would now be easier to run a trace of sea crafts involved in particular incidents. She cited as an example a recent incident in Siaton, Negros Oriental where one fisherman was killed while his companion managed to escape when an unidentified banca opened fire at them at sea. Witnesses could only describe the sea craft but could not give other details. Also, with the SSEN vessel registration, it is now easier to detect the homeport or origin of a vessel, which may be spotted in the province. All vessels plying within the Philippine waters are required to register and acquire a serial number from the Coast Guard, Ramacho said. (PNA)

How Crimeans defended against an organized takeover of the Crimean Parliament in Simferopol

12:52
Special thanks to Rossiya 24 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t42-71RpRgI for allowing us to post the documentary on our channel Andrey Kondrashov’s documentary on the return of Crimea to Russia, was aired in Russia on March 15, exactly one year after the Crimeans took to the polls to vote for returning to their Motherland and leaving wretched Ukraine behind. The Western powers – led, as ever, by the US and UK – were determined to portray this momentous historic event as an imperial land-grab by Russia in order to rectify their support for the subsequent bloody war of Nazi Kiev against the breakaway provinces with Russian population in Southeastern Ukraine that rejected this criminal putsch regime. It is important to know that these Ukrainian provinces voted with 90% for Yanukovich in the last free democratic elections in this country and could not accept the Nazi putsch instigated and financed by the USA and EU (mainly Germany), as I have reported on many occasions. Although the Russian government was surprised as to how quickly the elected Ukrainian President Yanukovich was ousted from power in a bloody Nazi coup d’etat, “brokered” by the USA as Obama admitted in a CNN interview recently, only one day after he signed an international agreement to refrain from power and delegate it to other parties in peaceful democratic elections in the course of 2014, Putin made swift and crucial decisions, first to save the life of the legitimate Ukrainian president and then to save Crimea from the Nazi thugs in Kiev. When President Yanukovich fled Kiev on February 22nd 2014, President Putin set in motion a series of responses that constituted the most serious and successful challenge to the hegemonic aspirations of the Empire of Evil in Europe and Asia. This was the pivotal point in time when the plan of the dark ruling cabal in the West to establish the NWO was ultimately shattered. One feature of the video is the following that you recently documented: “How the Russian military placed the brand new Coastal Defence System ‘Bastion-P’ at locations along Crimea’s southern coast. Once activated, the approaching USS Donald Cook Destroyer turned around at full-speed before Russian military jets chased the American warship south.“ And here are the major points discussed in this video: How Russia saved President Yanukovich of Ukraine How Crimeans returning from revolution in Kiev tasted the rage of the Right sector ‘Maidan orcs’ How members of the Berkut police force escaped to Crimea and helped set up people’s militias to defend the peninsula, not least by preventing Kiev military jets from landing at Sevastopol’s airport How these civilian militias defended against an organized takeover of the Crimean Parliament in Sevastopol How most Crimean Tatars sided with the ethnic Russian population, despite efforts by the coup organizers to generate an ethnic split between them How the militias came together to blockade repeated efforts by the ‘Maidan orcs’ (Right sector fascists) to enter the peninsula – by road, train and air How the Crimean Referendum was enacted following near unanimous support from the people’s representatives in the Crimean Parliament How Berkut forces were joined by Kuban Cossacks from across the Black Sea region, including veterans of Russia’s Afghan War, to defend Crimea from efforts by the new regime to send in weapons and explosives How, having prevented Kiev from deploying ‘Maidan orcs’ via air, rail and road, Russia’s Black Sea Fleet blockaded the Ukrainian navy from leaving its home port How the Russian military placed the brand new Coastal Defence System ‘Bastion-P’ at locations along Crimea’s southern coast. Once activated, the approaching USS Donald Cook Destroyer turned around at full-speed before Russian military jets chased the American warship south How the ‘Night Wolves’ biker gang joined in the defence of Crimea in Yalta by kidnapping Ukrainian General Mikhail Koval and uncovering weapons caches left by the Ukies prior to the coup How the Crimean citizen militias and Russian soldiers stationed in Sevastopol peacefully neutralized 20,000 Ukrainian forces stationed on the peninsula, many of whom then defected to Russia and much more. Russian firm gives Turkish Stream gas pipeline details

02:56
Detailed information concerning the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, the latest project to carry Russian gas to Turkey via the Black Sea before it finally reaches Europe, has been presented at the 26th World Gas Conference in Paris. At the Turkish Stream exhibition stand, the forum guests have been offered detailed information about the project and its significance for European energy security, said Russian energy giant Gazprom, which has undertaken the project, in a press release. “Visitors will see the models of pipe-laying vessels, learn about the offshore gas pipeline construction techniques, as well as about the advantages of using natural gas for successful economic development and environmental conservation,” it said. On Dec. 1, 2014, Gazprom and Turkish Botaş signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the construction of an offshore gas pipeline with an annual capacity of 63 billion cubic meters (bcm) across the Black Sea towards Turkey. The new gas pipeline will run across the Black Sea from the Russkaya CS near Anapa to Kiyikoy village in the European part of Turkey and further via Lüleburgaz to İpsala on the border between Turkey and Greece. The offshore gas pipeline will consist of four lines with a capacity of 15.75 bcm each. All the gas from the first line will be moved solely to the Turkish market. Gazprom will construct the offshore gas pipeline involving its 100 percent subsidized South Stream Transport registered in the Netherlands. South Stream Transport was focused on preparations for the South Stream gas pipeline construction, which was cancelled in December 2014. The greater part of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline will be laid within the corridor formerly intended for the South Stream. In May 2015, Italian Saipem was tasked with constructing the first offshore gas pipeline using the pipes manufactured for the South Stream project. The International Gas Union holds the World Gas Conference triennially. It is a forum for discussing a wide range of issues related to gas industry development, including gas transmission, storage, distribution and consumption, as well as the environmental impact of power generation. Russia has been facing problems in gas sales to Europe due to its political problems with its neighbor, Ukraine. Turkey, which has been buying more than half of its natural gas from Russia, is carrying out a separate plan, the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project (TANAP), to carry Azerbaijan’s Caspian gas to the country in a bid to diversify its supply. The initial capacity of TANAP is expected to be 16 bcm of gas per year, gradually increasing to 31 bcm.

Russian Geography 22 - Crimean Federal District

03:39
Full Lesson: http://www.ruskyed.com/GEO/geo22a.html Transcript: Rusky Ed here and the topic for this lesson is the Crimean Federal District. Following the intro song the lesson will begin, but in the meantime be sure to inspect the focus words for this lesson! Established in March of 2014, the Crimean Federal District (Кры́мский федера́льный о́круг) is Russia’s ninth and newest federal district. Surrounded by the Black Sea (Чёрное море) and the Sea of Azov (Азо́вское мо́ре) as well as the foreign (and decidedly hostile) country of Ukraine to the north, the Crimean Federal District occupies what is known as the Crimean Peninsula (Кры́мский полуо́стров). Several cities located in Crimea include Yevpatoria, Sevastopol, Yalta, Simferopol, Feodosiya, and Kerch. Separating Crimea from the rest of the great country of Russia is the Kerch Strait (Керченский пролив). A site of special interest, located near the city of Yalta (Ялта), is the Nikitsky Botanical Gardens (Никитский ботанический сад). It was established in 1811 as the result of a decree issued from Saint Petersburg for the purpose of conducting scientific research involving plants. Covering an area of eleven square kilometers, the gardens are a true botanical paradise with a huge collection of plants and trees. The grounds are open for the public to visit and they produce saplings and seeds for use in public projects in the region. (More info: http://nbgnsc.com/en/node/62 ) And now for our focus words: собранный - collected огромный - huge, enormous, vast разнообразный - variety, various, diverse пролив - strait, channel соединять - to connect, unite, join море - sea It should be noted that разнообразие is the noun form of разнообразный since that’s what will appear in the sample sentences, speaking of which we have: В ботанических садах собрано огромное разнообразие растений. (The botanical gardens include an enormous variety of plants.) Керченский пролив соединяет Чёрное и Азовское моря. (The Kerch Strait connects the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.) Между Чёрным и Азовским морями находится Керченский пролив. (Between the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov is the Kerch Strait.) [Между Чёрным морем и Азовским морем находится Керченский пролив.] And now for a few useful vocabulary words: частность - particular волновать - to worry, agitate, disturb текущий - current положение - position, situation сообщать - to tell, report, say пароль - password The following sample sentences provide examples of how these words may be used: В частности его волновало текущее положение. (In particular, he was worried about the current situation.) [В частности его волновала текущая ситуация. В частности он беспокоился о текущей ситуации.] Никому не сообщайте свой пароль. (Do not share your password with anybody.) And with that excellent advice this lesson comes to its conclusion!
