One of the best ways to increase your sales on a shoestring budget is to create product bundles. Customer equates product bundles with savings, whereas they are actually spending more on product and services they didn't need at the present moment. Let me give you a simple illustration. There's this particular Restaurant where I usually eat my launch. On a good day, I spend around $5 on a plate of rice and Beef. On a particular occasion when I went to eat my usual, I was offered an alternative bundle, which contains a plate of rice, one soda, assorted vegetable and chicken for $8, and immediately I fell for it and paid an extra $3, that I didn't budget for all because I felt I was paying less for more. The idea behind this story is to try as much as possible to offer bundled product and services as opposed to individual product offerings — while doing this be flexible enough to swap or change individual products or services on the bundle. There will be cases when a client might reject a bundle because he or she feels that two or three products or services on the bundle apply to his business. This is where a blog comes in handy or a website. Then you can start posting ‘how to’s’ because now you know what your market is using it for or using the products for or struggling with. [00:18:03] Scott: Now you can answer those questions and if it’s not you, you find the answers for them and you put them on this resource. Frequently asked questions, that’s another section that should be on that blog or that website. Again, knowing what the frequently asked questions are is by you doing the research and then understanding that market. Using Google, again using the Google keyword planner tool to see what people are searching for. You can see the search volume there, you can see how competitive it is if you’re going to do any ads for it. Another great tool from my good buddy, Spencer Haws is Longtail Pro from nichepursuits.com. Another great resource to learn a little bit more about figuring out the different long tail keywords that people are searching for because it’s easier for you to then rank these but also it gives you a little bit more precise search terms that people are looking for. Again, remember if we’re just putting garlic press up and we get ranked for it or we get people that find us, that’s great but what if we had stainless steel garlic press, six inches. If we had that one and we knew it had good volume and then we were able to target that precisely, it’s going to be that much more related to that search and then that person that’s looking for it is going to say, “That’s exactly what I was looking for.” It’s so much more relevant rather than just garlic press. That would be going and using a tool like Long Tail Pro or just using Google planner, Merchant Words is another one you can play around with. There’s a few of them out there. You could also hire a VA, a Virtual Assistant. Go to Upwork.com and say, “Hey, I want you to go and look into this market for me, I want you to find the top 10 questions that are asked and I want you to also find 10 things that they should know that they’re not asking in this market.” That’s all you want that VA to do. [00:20:01] Scott: You might spend $100, $200, maybe even 300 bucks to have that done but it’s going to be so worth it because that can also help you create content. Now if you’re able to get that content created, now you have different resources that people are going to be able to find, they’re going to be able to use and then from there it’s going to help them want to buy through you through that process. You’re not just saying, “Hey, I sell this, buy this.” It’s like if you sell guitar accessories and you’re just like, “Here I sell guitar straps.” If you had lessons teaching your ideal customer how to play certain songs that that customer is into or certain chords or certain exercises and then you have guitar straps that you sell, there’s a better chance of them buying through you because you’ve given them value. It’s just the way it works. That’s another, just a little tip there for you but Amazon pay-per-click data, if you’ve already been selling a product in this market, you’ve got that data. You’re going to have some there and that’s a great place to start because then you can kind of say, “Wow, there’s a ton of information, a ton of impressions around these search terms. I should probably create some content around them because then I could also get found on Google or Bing or Yahoo as I’m punching this out,” or if you get people in on an email sequence, you can then give them this information and that helps them along in this sales process, in creating your sales channel. Why are my eBay sales slow? Reason #1: You didn’t pick items that have a high buyer demand A lot of sellers go to garage sales/thrift stores and pick up random items. The problem with this is that random items like this don’t sell fast. You are going to sit on these types of items for potentially months. To make consistent eBay sales this way you need to have a huge inventory of thousands of items. Not only is managing an inventory of thousands of items difficult, it is time-consuming to both manage and to create individual listings for (which makes it difficult to scale this type of income). If you’re wondering “why are my eBay sales slow?” It is quite likely because you are listing random items and don’t have enough listings to guarantee steady sales. Instead, I recommend to focus on selling items that have high, constant on-going demand. Not only can you make more money with less items this way, you can forecast profits more reliably and reuse listings over/and/over. Reason #2: You are selling common items If you want to increase your eBay sales, then you need to stop selling generic items because they have lots of competition from other sellers. When people come up with ideas for items to sell, they are usually not very creative and as a result have inconsistent results and wonder “why are my email sales slow?” It is because they pick common items with heavy competition and become crushed by it. Instead, pick niche items. In this video I spotlighted the “Make America Great Again” hat from the Donald Trump store, because it has a ridiculously high sell-through rate. It has a high sell-through rate because there is more demand than sellers, because not many people have researched this niche and discovered this huge opportunity. Stay clear of common items and research unique, niche items if you want to increase your eBay sales. Why are my eBay sales slow? Reason #3: You aren’t upselling your customers An excellent way to increase your eBay sales and profit margins is to leverage the customers you currently have and upsell them. Upselling is one of the easiest ways to increase your sales volume. One strategy is to bundle items together, such as bundling a phone with accessories like screen protectors and chargers. Accessories are great to sell because they are cheap to source and have high profit margins. You should also list the accessories separately so that customers can create their own item bundles. Not only will you increase your eBay sales and profit margins, but it will lessen the time you need to spend sourcing items, since accessories are easy to source from wholesalers. This is a great strategy to scale up your income, because unlike with garage sale/craiglist/thrift store sourcing, you don’t need to exchange your time for money. Why are my eBay sales slow? Reason #4: You aren’t shipping internationally A lot of eBay sellers don’t ship internationally because it takes extra work to ship to an international buyer, but for many sellers it is well worth it for two reasons: 1) Some items are not readily available overseas, and so those buyers are willing to pay a premium. Take the hat I spotlighted in this video. It has an extremely high buying price because non-USA residents cannot purchase it from the Donald Trump store, and so resort to eBay to purchase it. Not only does this create enormous demand, but it drives up the price (and thus profit margins). 2) International buyers are more likely to be upselled because they will want to bundle items together to save on shipping costs. So not only will you attract new buyers, you’ll attract buyers who are keen to buy multiple items from you at once. Here is what you need to do to launch your first Amazon FBA product and make it a home-run success (even if it’s your first product): You need to match (or ideally improve on) the sales velocity & conversions of your top competitor for 2 weeks. If you do this… then your item will soar to the top of the search results - and YOU’LL start making all of the organic sales for your product! Hack #1 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Use product giveaways Product giveaways for your Amazon FBA private label product are one of the most powerful strategies at your disposal for massively increasing your sales velocity & conversions. You can’t give products away for free but you can give people a heavily discounted coupon that lets them buy it for just 99 cents, which means you are basically giving it away for free. And this is simple: Sign up for a service like JumpSend or ZonBlast. These services have a huge membership base of people that are keen to purchase heavily discounted items on Amazon. They will then distribute your coupon to it’s members. Not only will this drastically increase your sales, but the conversions will be high: You can expect around 50%. You can give people this URL instead of your usual product URL to trick the algorithm into thinking that people found (and bought your item) through finding it using the search engine. Be aware though, this is a controversial method. Experts like Daniel recommend only pushing through a maximum of 20% of your sales this way. Hack #4 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Use paid advertising You can place paid ads in the Amazon search engine for your item, targeting specific keywords. When someone buys a product through clicking on it, not only will this increase your sales velocity - but it’ll help your product rank organically for that keyword as well. Hack #5 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Increase the conversions on your listing & get reviews It’s not enough to get the initial sales & conversions from drastically lowering your price: You need to have a high-converting listing so that when you reach the top of the search results you’ll keep making more sales than your competitor, otherwise the Amazon algorithm will drop you in the results. Here are some tips for increasing your conversions on your listing: * Have the maximum number of HD photos that are big enough the customer can zoom in on them. * Have a keyword rich product title. * Have multiple bullet points with excellent copy. * Have a descriptive product description that has photos included in it. Be sure to email and follow up with your customers, asking them to leave an honest review. If you do this, you can increase the rate of people leaving a review to as high as 10-15% (compared to less than 5%). Hack #6 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Use Amazon Marketing Services Amazon Market Services (AMS) is an advertising platform that you need to be specially approved for. When you are approved it lets you advertise on lots of pages on Amazon, such as your competitor’s pages. Because it requires pre-approval, most of your competition won’t be using it. So you can use this to place ads in larger amounts than 99% of your competitors and outsell them.
