Leandro Ramos - 2013 - http://www.professorramos.com/

Having trouble getting your SD Card to boot up in your Canon DSLR so you can run Magic Lantern? Well if your a Mac OS X or Linux user, you are in luck. In this tutorial I show you how to make that SD Card bootable using the Make Bootable script and have your running Magic Lantern in no time at all. I figured if I am having a pain getting this to run, others are likely pulling their hair out as well. The Make Bootable script however can be run on both Linux and Mac OS X. I also found it extremely easy to use, but could require someone with command line experience in BASH. Luckily for everyone here, I do. So I felt this was a great idea for todays Tips & Techniques video. I normally don't try to get to technical in these videos, but this was just to good of information to keep to myself. For this tutorial, you will need to make an ISO image file of the linux setup. You can do that by using Magic ISO and various other softwares. With a linux boot cd, you can directly start with the operating system in no type. Using the help of daemon tools you can create a bootable cd in a few simple steps. Step 1 -- Downloading Daemon Tools Once you have the .ISO image file with you, ready to burn, we will focus on creating a Linux bootable CD which can be created using Daemon Tools Lite. Log on to daemon-tools.cc/eng/downloads, scroll down to Daemon Tools Lite and click on the "Download" button to download the application. Step 2 -- Selecting the Ubuntu ISO file Once downloaded, install the application on your computer. Just follow the installer and it will install the application on your computer automatically. Once installed, double click on its icon to open it. Now click on the "Add" image button. With that done, a new window will open up. Browse and select the Ubuntu ISO file and click on the "Open" button to load it.   Step 3 -- Burning the Image After loading it, select the image file, which you want to boot from cd, from the list and click on the "Burn Image" button to burn it on a CD. Once the processing is completed, the Linux boot CD will be created.

How to Recover Data from Corrupt Harddrive in Linux
Tutorial on how to successfully recover data from a Severely Corrupted hard drive in Ubuntu Linux using Testdisk and Photorec. This comes in handy during troubleshooting, when your main operating system is out of order. In a nutshell, this simplifies things greatly and you can reboot in no time. In this tutorial we will guide you on how to boot from a USB Flash drive. For this tutorial, you will have to make an ISO file containing the linux setup. You can use Magic ISO for creating an ISO image of the operating system. Step 1 -- Downloading the application To boot from usb, first of all you will need to download a third party application. For this purpose, log on to pendrivelinux.com and download the "Universal USB Installer" application. This application will allow you to carry a portable linux desktop with you wherever you go. This application makes your usb bootable, and all you will need to do is plug-in the usb and the operating system will start. Step 2 -- Using the Universal USB Installer Application Once downloaded, double click on its icon to open up the Universal USB Installer and click on the "I Agree" button to proceed. Now select the Linux operating system from the drop down list and click on the browse button. With that done, a new window will open up. How to clone a HDD to SSD using a live Linux CD
While there are many commercial products for cloning a hard disk including shrinking the OS partition, this video shows how to do that using a freely available Live Linux OS, which can be booted from CD or a USB stick. Although I use System Rescue CD in this video, this process works with many Live Linux distributions, including Trinity Rescue Kit and Parted Magic. As the partitions to copy must be resized or moved so they copy to within the SSD with a 1:1 clone, I also show how to keep the recovery partition (or other partition) on the original HDD that is outside the SSD's outer boundary. Normally this would result in an unbootable SSD with a 1:1 clone due to the copied partition table having an entry pointing outside the drive's outer boundary. Note: I haven't tried this with a GUID GPT disk, I'd expect it to be a similar process, but involving gdisk instead of fdisk. This video contains all the sequences throughout the clone process, including the first boot after the SSD is installed, the 'Found new hardware' process and what the performance is like straight away. The only sequences that were shortened were the clone stage (took about an hour), a few mouse & keyboard operations in Linux and the chkdsk operation that Gparted triggers on the first boot. 34C3 - Bringing Linux back to server boot ROMs with NERF and Heads
https://media.ccc.de/v/34c3-9056-bringing_linux_back_to_server_boot_roms_with_nerf_and_heads The NERF and Heads projects bring Linux back to the cloud servers' boot ROMs by replacing nearly all of the vendor firmware with a reproducible built Linux runtime that acts as a fast, flexible, and measured boot loader. It has been years since any modern servers have supported Free Firmware options like LinuxBIOS or coreboot, and as a result server and cloud security has been dependent on unreviewable, closed source, proprietary vendor firmware of questionable quality. With Heads on NERF, we are making it possible to take back control of our systems with Open Source Software from very early in the boot process, helping build a more trustworthy and secure cloud. The NERF project was started by Ron Minnich (author of LinuxBIOS and lead of coreboot at Google) in January 2017 with the goal to bring Linux back to the BIOS by retaining a minimal set of PEI modules for memory controller initialization and replacing the entirety of the server vendor's UEFI DXE firmware with a reproducibly built Linux runtime. It has been ported to a few different manufacturer's servers, demonstrating the general portability of the concept. NERF is fast - less than twenty second boot times, versus multiple minutes. It's flexible - it can make use of any devices, filesystems and protocols that Linux supports. And it's open - users can easily customize the boot scripts, fix issues, build their own runtimes and reflash their firmware with their own keys. The Heads runtime was started by Trammell Hudson (author of Thunderstrike and Magic Lantern) and was presented last year at 33c3. It is a slightly more secure bootloader that uses Linux, the TPM, GPG and kexec to be able to load, measure, verify and execute the real kernel. As part of porting Heads to work with NERF on server platforms, it now includes tools like Keylime to allow severs to remotely attest to user controlled systems that the NERF/Heads firmware matches what they expect, as well as network and iSCSI drivers for diskless compute node servers. In this talk we'll provide an overview of the NERF project, the currently supported server mainboards, and the continued development on the Heads runtime that allows more trust in the servers that make up the cloud. Grub Rescue : Repair, Restore Ubuntu | Kali Linux Grub Bootloader using Live CD
Blog Tutorial: http://www.hackanons.com/2018/02/grub-rescue-repair-restore-ubuntu-kali.html Seeing nothing but the grub rescue prompt? Did Windows mess up your Master Boot Record? Using Ubuntu, GRUB 2 got you down? Who needs Live CDs? This video tutorial will show you how you can use an Ubuntu Live USB drive to reinstall GRUB, even when your boot device is inaccessible. GRUB bootloader gets overrided if you install Windows after Ubuntu. I make this video tutorial on how to restore and customize the GRUB loader. Common Problem: You install Windows after you install Ubuntu. That erases the GRUB loader, and instead of being able to switch between Ubuntu and Windows, Windows will boot automatically. Steps: 1) Create a bootable USB Flash Drive of Ubuntu | Kali Linux - Download Ubuntu http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop - Download and win32 DiskImager https://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/ - Create bootable USB flash drive of Ubuntu | Kali Linux Now select Live CD, Open Terminal & type the following commands : sudo mount /dev/sdaX /mnt {replace X with your drive number on which Ubuntu | Kali Installed} Now bind the directories that grub needs access to to detect other operating systems, like so. sudo mount --bind /dev /mnt/dev && sudo mount --bind /dev/pts /mnt/dev/pts && sudo mount --bind /proc /mnt/proc && sudo mount --bind /sys /mnt/sys Now we jump into that using chroot. sudo chroot /mnt Now install, check, and update grub. This time you only need to add the drive letter (usually a) to replace X, for example: grub-install /dev/sda, grub-install –recheck /dev/sda. grub-install /dev/sdX grub-install --recheck /dev/sdX update-grub Now grub is back, all that is left is to exit the chrooted system and unmount everything. exit && sudo umount /mnt/sys && sudo umount /mnt/proc && sudo umount /mnt/dev/pts && sudo umount /mnt/dev && sudo umount /mnt Shut down and turn your computer back on, and you will be met with the default Grub2 screen. You may want to update grub or re-install burg however you like it. Congratulations, you have just Repaired/Restored/Reinstalled Grub 2 with a Ubuntu Live CD! Which background music did I use? Installing Runes of magic on Kubuntu Linux 9.10
The graphic performance is slower than running it on Windows, so I recommend to set the graphic quality to low before logging in. It is ideal for crafting, AH and gathering, if you are too lazy to dual boot into Windows.

Parted Magic: Bootable File Recovery / Diagnostics Disk
This is the fifth in a series covering live cd's. You may also have heard them referred to as rescue disks or bootable disks. Live cd's are very useful to technicians who are working on a computer that will not boot into Windows, or when they are working on a computer that is so badly infected with viruses that a typical antivirus can't remove them effectively. Live cd's are also great for data recovery, password recovery and resets and diagnostics as well. If this video helped you, please like. Subscribe to receive updates on newly released videos. I would suggest downloading the ISO image, burning it to disk, and playing around with the program to learn it's features and capabilities. If you are having trouble or don't know how to burn an ISO to disk, please see my video on Imgburn. Thank you for watching. Have a great day !!! Data Recovery on a Formatted Drive with TestDisk by Britec
Data Recovery on a Formatted Drive with TestDisk TestDisk & PhotoRec Download: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download TestDisk is a powerful free data recovery software! It was primarily designed to help recover lost partitions and/or make non-booting disks bootable again when these symptoms are caused by faulty software, certain types of viruses or human error (such as accidentally deleting a Partition Table). Partition table recovery using TestDisk is really easy. TestDisk can * Fix partition table, recover deleted partition * Recover FAT32 boot sector from its backup * Rebuild FAT12/FAT16/FAT32 boot sector * Fix FAT tables * Rebuild NTFS boot sector * Recover NTFS boot sector from its backup * Fix MFT using MFT mirror * Locate ext2/ext3 Backup SuperBlock * Undelete files from FAT, NTFS and ext2 filesystem * Copy files from deleted FAT, NTFS and ext2/ext3 partitions. TestDisk has features for both novices and experts. For those who know little or nothing about data recovery techniques, TestDisk can be used to collect detailed information about a non-booting drive which can then be sent to a tech for further analysis. Those more familiar with such procedures should find TestDisk a handy tool in performing onsite recovery. Operating systems TestDisk can run under * DOS (either real or in a Windows 9x DOS-box), * Windows (NT4, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 2008, Windows 7), * Linux, * FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, * SunOS and * MacOS X Source files and precompiled binary executables are available for DOS, Win32, MacOSX and Linux from the download page Filesystems TestDisk can find lost partitions for all of these file systems: * BeFS ( BeOS ) * BSD disklabel ( FreeBSD/OpenBSD/NetBSD ) * CramFS, Compressed File System * DOS/Windows FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32 * Windows exFAT * HFS, HFS+ and HFSX, Hierarchical File System * JFS, IBM's Journaled File System * Linux ext2 and ext3 * Linux LUKS encrypted partition * Linux RAID md 0.9/1.0/1.1/1.2 o RAID 1: mirroring o RAID 4: striped array with parity device o RAID 5: striped array with distributed parity information o RAID 6: striped array with distributed dual redundancy information * Linux Swap (versions 1 and 2) * LVM and LVM2, Linux Logical Volume Manager * Mac partition map * Novell Storage Services NSS * NTFS ( Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/7 ) * ReiserFS 3.5, 3.6 and 4 * Sun Solaris i386 disklabel * Unix File System UFS and UFS2 (Sun/BSD/...) * XFS, SGI's Journaled File System ------------------------------- why not join our tech forum http://www.briteccomputers.co.uk/forum

How to safely delete Ubuntu or any Linux from a Dual-Boot with Windows 7/8/10
Link to Minitool Partition Wizard: https://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html In this video i demonstrate the safe way to delete Ubuntu or any operating system that is dual booted along side windows 7. I use a program called Minitool Partition Wizard which is a free software that you can find by searching Google. The wizard displays your drives and partitions a bit like the disk management utility in windows. When you install Linux along side windows, Linux replaces the windows bootloader with one of it's own called 'Grub' Grub displays the Linux OS and your Windows OS and you can choose which OS you want to boot into. When you delete the Linux partitions you also delete Grub so you are left with no bootloader and Windows will fail to boot up. With Minitool Partition Wizard you can rebuild the MBR which will restore the Windows bootloader and allow you to boot back into Windows. I hope this video helped you. If you have any questions give me a shout. Thanks for watching!

How to install Linux Mint 18.2 alongside with Mac - Full step by step install 2017
Installing Linux alongside Windows is very easy , because Linux can handle the partitions and fix some work around , however , on a Mac its another Story . So in this video we do some steps and I will try to explain in a easy way . Tools and files you will Need : For the Mac - refind (efi bootloader) You will need the ISO of Linux Mint 18.2 MATE desktop and you will need to burn a bootable USB drive , from the ISO Linux File .. That can be done with Power ISO 4.9 or in Linux mint 18.2 very easy .. Also we will have to modify the MAC Harddisk and thanks to the build in Disk utility in MAC it's just some clicks and logic thinking and your done .. Is this all worted to do on a MACBOOK Pro 7.1 ? Depends .. Sometimes you want to keep work and private separated and if you only have 1 device , this can be handy , also to do sertain tasks that fail in Mac such as stable screen recordings with QuickTime in Mac to me more QUITTIME cause it quits on me all the time in the middle of a recording . Also browsing is faster safer and more privacy while discovering the internet , only those that know will confirm this .. Also with Linux Mint 18.3 you will have a stable OS with daily security Updates even before other OS'ses will even get them .. Many reasons to have a Linux Mint Device , standalone or as second OS in your MAC Windows Machine or on that Laptop or Pc you dont use anymore even do it has a Celeron Processor and at least 1 GB ram ...🤔 Enjoy the Show ... Task to start with : search find download Http://www.linuxmint.com Google Refind Power Iso and get A 4 GB USB pendrive ready to become a bootable Linux Installer ..
