CHANEL Making of the Fall 2016 Haute Couture Paris by Fashion Channel

03:31
Without the virtuosity of its petites mains working in the secrecy of the ateliers, Haute Couture wouldn’t have its unique and incomparable brilliance. At CHANEL their expertise is deployed in two tailleur ateliers and two flou ateliers [tailoring and dressmaking]. Karl Lagerfeld wished to pay them tribute by dedicating to them the Fall-Winter 2016/17 CHANEL Haute Couture collection presented this Tuesday on July 5th. So, beneath the glass roof of the Grand Palais, the ateliers on the rue Cambon have been recreated down to the smallest detail. Tables, sewing machines, mirrors, pins, fabrics, multi-coloured threads, toiles and mannequins: the inner world of seamstresses is put under the spotlight and animated before the audience by the premières of the ateliers, followed by their seconds and the 78 seamstresses from the House of CHANEL which counts more than 120. “I thought that was a modern idea to make them participate. They should be shown too.” This season the cut is defined by a sleek, pure silhouette. It forms the thread running through a structured and graphic collection. Beveled or angular cut shoulders, held with stitches create a “standing up” effect, framing a flat profile without any padding. The 3/4 length sleeves answer the 7/8 turn-ups hems of the culottes and wide-cut trousers worn over draped leather thigh boots. The tweed jackets highlight the waist with protruding pockets on the hips. Coat dresses and jacket dresses in tweed form games of trompe-l’œil. An ethereal hairstyle tied back with a grosgrain headband further enhances and blurs these strict and geometric shapes. For evening, the silhouette is inspired by the work of English illustrator Aubrey Beardsley. While shoulders and hems of dresses are adorned with crests of feathers, the high waists, sometimes punctuated with protruding pockets, smooth the silhouettes. Dresses flare out over soft cages, almost tracing a pencil line. The fabrics radzimir, ziberline, mikado, taffetas and faille are joined by chiffons, crêpe georgette, organza, silk tulle, embroidered laces and almost transparent grosgrains. The same refinement is reflected in the treatment of colour. Autumnal shades – browns, marron glacé, oranges, beige and greys – are nuanced and enriched with a palette of pinks, blacks and whites as block colours or woven in duos. The exacting perfection of Haute Couture is reflected in the minute details sometimes barely visible. Thus linings of protruding pockets are reworked, stitching is spun with fringed spirals and braids are plaited with tulle and tweed. The embroidery of stones, matt sequins, beads and feathers are combined and multiplied endlessly to create enchanting flowers and compose neck straps. Draping alternates with bias cut pleats as well as accordion, cone, sunray and flat pleats. Articulated jewellery is transformed into frogging and precious cuffs. The highlight of the collection is the bride. This season Karl Lagerfeld has imagined her in a bustier and trousers fashioned from lace, tulle and satin encrusted with strands of pink and white wool, and kept warm with jacket and train embroidered with feathers. As bearer of this tradition and guardian of a unique savoir-faire, Haute Couture embodies the primary vocation of CHANEL. More than ever it is a laboratory of ideas, the quintessence of creativity and dreams applauded this Tuesday, July 5th 2016 by CHANEL ambassadresses Vanessa Paradis, Willow Smith, Zhou Xun and Caroline de Maigret, actor Will Smith and actresses Jessica Chastain, Milla Jovovich and Hari Nef. #ChanelAteliers #ChanelHauteCouture YOUTUBE CHANNEL: http://www.youtube.com/fashionchannel WEB TV: http://www.fashionchannel.it/en/web-tv FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/fashionchannelmilano TWITTER: https://twitter.com/FashionChannelP PINTEREST: http://pinterest.com/fashionchannel INSTAGRAM: http://instagram.com/fashionchanneltv The best videos, the most exclusive moments of the international runway since 1982 until now, of the most representative fashion weeks of the world. What Does it Take to Be A Fashion Designer?

06:17
Click for more: http://ww2.kqed.org/artschool/ Oakland high school student Zachary Fernandez made it to the finals on the first season of Project Runway Junior, then headed straight back to Oakland School of the Arts to continue his education as a designer. His newest collection, Kathmandu, was inspired by recovery efforts in Nepal after the devastating 2015 earthquake. Art School followed Fernandez's process as he sketched, sourced fabric, and designed his new project, revealed at a culminating fashion show in spring 2016. Hi, my name is Zachary Fernandez and I'm currently a fashion student. So I am starting my Kathmandu 2016 collection. My collection's gonna be debuting at my school fashion show, and so I have little under seven weeks to get this all put together. So our school assignment was to pick a city that we wanted to be inspired by for this collection. I ended with Kathmandu, Nepal, all of the trouble that they went through last year was really inspiring and I was able to take those ideas of imbalance and the destruction of culture and apply that to this new collection. These are the pieces that I ended up designing. They're ever-changing and they kind of just are always in flux. My sketching process involves a lot of images, a lot of mixed medias, I like to do collages, watercolors, acrylic paste, it's a real reflection of what my mind looks like. Here you have the final sketches that I've done. The sketching process for me is really a major step between just ideas and kind of this fantasy world that I've created in my mind to really functional wearable pieces. Fabric sourcing is one of my favorite things to do. It's really like a group activity, like meet a couple of friends, we'll just go, we'll explore the city, we'll get inspiration. So I'm looking for like a very pale blue that's almost like very silverish, and then I'm gonna be looking for a very deep, rust orange color. Okay, so I need to find this, but more grayish blue. The fabric store is one of those places that you go in with one idea and one concept and one thought, and you come out with like 500 more. This is it. - This is it! - This is it. - [Girl] Dude! - Hey! Yes! So I spend the majority of my time draping and it's definitely a part that will make or break a piece. I take a piece of muslin, which is just a really basic blend fabric, and I started sculpting it to the dress form. And then those mock-ups that I make of the dress form are then fitted to the model, and sometimes I try them on a model, I'm like, this is hideous, I don't know why, it just overpowers her or something happens and that leads to even better ideas and even more just, creativeness. When you design while you create, I just think it takes so much longer and you like pressure yourself so much more. So, my design mind is turned off. And it's just about sewing, and sewing, and sewing, and sewing, and sewing. So after I finish draping, I take a part of that mockup and I totally seam rip it and I re-pattern it, and then I cut out of my real fabric. It's always really nerve-wracking 'cause a lot of times the fabric's all that you have, either the budget doesn't allow for you to get more fabric, or there's simply not anymore left. It has this like box-like structure in it. The box is actually lined with horse-hair so that it can kind of take the shape and that's why I'm kind of trying to like manipulate it right now 'cause it just takes on whatever shape you really need it to. The show, oh the show. Six days, and I'm still cutting up fabric like, I don't think that's normal. There's always going to be that last minute hurry up and finish like state of being. I have a picture in my mind about how this is supposed to go, but who knows if it actually go that way. I think that there can be a lot of different ways to read the look. Obviously you look for like the main things like color, silhouette, is this an evening piece, is this a day piece and you just kind of put the garment and choose certain categories and that really helps people read fashion out, by the time the piece is on the runway I'm already thinking about a whole new collection and I'm really thinking something totally different, but it doesn't really hit me that these people, for them it's the first time that they've seen this. I've spent months and months planning and sketching and putting it together. If I see all these different things in these pieces, but no one else does, then it's kind of sad, but then it's also part of what makes fashion art, is because people see it in so many different ways. We are in my home, studio, bedroom combination in Berkeley, California. I have this look from Project Runway Junior, which was the first episode, and this look for my most recent collection. They really mean a lot to me 'cause they show how much progress I've made within the last four, five months.

How a Dior Dress is Made | Visionaire | Refinery29

04:28
Subscribe to the Refinery29 channel: http://bit.ly/subscribe-to-r29 “Couture” is a magic word. It conjures thoughts of impeccable craftsmanship, visionary design, and legendary fashion moments. But, most of us don't encounter haute couture very often, unless we're looking at a celebrity on the red carpet, a model on a catwalk, or a mannequin in a museum case. We wanted to get closer to couture — and to get you closer to couture — so we partnered with the legendary fashion publisher Visionaire to create this video, which tells the story of one dress from birth to runway. It’s a unique look inside the Dior atelier, where the team has been hard at work bringing creative director Raf Simons’ ideas to life. While an individual couture garment can take half a year to produce, here you will see the story of one dress (“Look #53,” in fashion-speak) come together in just a few minutes — from the first muslin pattern to the final style model Kinga Rajzak wore during yesterday’s haute couture show. It’s an incredible revelation, and when you discover what goes into these garments, the crazy prices on couture start to seem at least a little less crazy. While Look #53 is the star of the show, the video gives us the chance to reconnect with the rarely credited artisans and seamstresses we saw in Dior and I, as well as a cameo from Simons himself. Think of this as a mini-trip to Paris or a crash course into fashion’s highest form; either way, enjoy your couture, concentrated. How to create your own fashion collection

03:32
How to create your own fashion collection: When starting sketching for a new collection, first of all you have to make your research. This means you should carefully study all the aspects fo your source of inspiration. Articles, photo collages, images found on Pinterest, Google or books, photos taken in trips or museums, they all should be placed in a journal because later on they will be part of the design process. The design journal is a creative tool that can be accessed anytime. It is an active source of inspiration for any designer and it serves as a creative kit. These are some inspiring images I found in a book about African art and added them to my journal.I photocopied some pages that will help me explain you how one should think when it comes to creativity. First of all, and the simplest way is to get inspired by the Shape. See the exterior shape of this African sculpture and decompose it in details: see the geometric forms, the patterns, the colors, the textures and so on. I will show you each time what inspired me for a particular area in the costume. Don't think if the result will be a dress or a pullover, a skirt or a coat. Simply don't. Just let it flow and feel the image that gives you inspiration. This is what I do. Tools can also inspire you, For example, this thick marker i am using for the lower part of the outfit. Just play and experiment. As you already noticed, I am using different kind of lines and surfaces to create diversity. The image should look interesting in any part you will look. Imagine that each part of your drawing could be a poster hanged on a wall. This is the limit of the creativity and how you should think your costume. Don't be afraid to be spectacular. The sky is the limit. You will have enough time later to reduce it all and to make your outfit look wearable. For the second sketch, I will get the inspiration from the decorative triangles and also from the texture in the lower part of the African sculpture. I like Copic markers especially because they are very wet and they inspire my hand to be free to move all over the page. When a marker is dry, the lines will be edgy and rigid, you will see.I also like the brush edge that allows me to have fine lines and also a flexible hand. My second favorite is Posca white markers. I just love them because they leave beautiful strong lines on dark surfaces like this one. When using markers, make sure to have a spare paper beneath. The markers will go through your white sheet of paper and they might ruin your drawings underneath. Thank you for watching, and please subscribe just to make sure you will be the first to see my new video.

The coolest thing about these hacks is that you can upcycle all your old clothes without spending money on anything new! Do you know that you can make any print on a T-shirt? All you need is a piece of hosiery put into an embroidery hoop, mod podge, and some paint of your favorite color. Check out this video to know how it all works together. The coolest thing about it is that you can turn a plain T-shirt into an amazing masterpiece. If you have no dress, but you have a beautiful pillowcase, it's good news for you. You can make a no-sew dress out of a pillowcase. There are more cool hacks for fabric sneakers in this video: learn how to make white sneakers shiny again! What's also cool, you can make them not only clean and shiny, but you can also make them glow in the dark! First of all, clean them with baking soda, and then use some fluorescent paint over them. Turn off the light and check the result! Another cool way of decorating plain sneakers is painting a whole galaxy on them. Use permanent markers for that. You can also make your fabric sneakers waterproof to protect the design. In order to protect any fabric shoes or sneakers from getting wet, you can do the following: rub them with a candle and warm up with a hairdryer. See what happens next: you can pour any liquid over your shoes and it will roll off them without even leaving a mark! Isn't it magical? Another amazing idea for decorating shirts is tie-dye! This technique allows you to make amazing prints on T-shirts turning them into unique masterpieces. 33 EASY SUMMER CLOTHES CRAFTS

28:15
SUMMER CLOTHES CRAFTS It's high time to upgrade your wardrobe for summer season! And I've got plenty of super stylish and unique handmade clothes design ideas you'll be yearning to try asap! If you accidentally splashed some paint on your denim jacket and thought it was over, I'll prove you wrong and demonstrate an awesome way to revive your favorite jacket and turn it into perfect summer outfit! So grab your scissors, threads and needle and let's get to work! I'll also show you numerous ways to transform your old T-shirts into unique skirt or dress dress! You can make little straps at the bottom of the T-shirt, tie them in cute knots and easily turn sleeves into pockets. You can turn your plain jeans into sassy ripped ones, all you need to have is pair of scissors and tweezers for decoration. If you like adding holes to your clothes like I do, you can make heart-shaped open back in your dress or T-shirt, which is especially comfy during summer time! You can also make stylish holey leggins and super cute lace pockets for your denim shorts. Guess what, you can even make breathable sneakers, just grab the scissors and...you already know what to do! ; ) Every time I get the chance to transform my clothes and be a designer at least for an evening I use it! So grab your scissors and let's get creative together. We can make awesome new collar on your boring T-shirt. Take out a thread which connects your collar to the T-shirt. Cut this collar strap in half. Then sew it with machine. Now you've got a double collar. I wanna share with you awesome way to make bow sleeves. First turn your T-shirt inside out. Cut the edge of the sleeves and the bottom line of the T-shirt. Cut out 2 little straps from the bottom line and make cute bows on the sleeves. Put them together using some hot glue gun. If you accidentally spilled coffee on your T-shirt, just turn it into BAHAMAS print! And if you wanna get rid of your ex-boyfriend clothes, I got you! ;) There are way too many ways to upgrade your old boring T-shirts! You can make your own screen prints, make glowing in the dark print, make cute crop top out of an old tank top and that's only the beginning! 24 FASHION HACKS YOU MUST TRY

21:29
FASHION HACKS Let's try some cool clothes repurposing ideas! This fun t-shirt recycle DIY tutorial lets you design a laced up collar sleeved top in quite an easy yet interesting manner. Create a unique top that is just the perfect blend of sexy and simplicity, which makes it ideal for casual as well as dressy days. Now you have an excuse to keep old t-shirts, because you know how fabulous they can look with a little makeover. Here is another fun t-shirt recycle I designed and it's quite easy. This is a unique way to create a shirt without showing too much skin (just enough). It can be dressy or casual as well. I used an old large t-shirt I had in my scrap trunk...it had one sleeve for some reason. I also made my own trimming since I had the Dritz Plier Set. You can also get pre-made trim with the eyelets already inserted from the fabric store. Just look in the trim isle. I prefer to make mine because it's easier to customize the length in between each eyelet. Removed any sleeves. Cut the shoulder seams open. Cut a scoop neck. You want to be a light scoop neck, not too low, almost straight across. Create your trim with your Dritz Plier set. I used a hem from an old shirt or you can fold a strip of jersey in half, press down and use that as your trim. Follow the product instructions to insert the eyelets with the plier set into the fabric. Top stitch the trim along the collar front and back. Trim any excess from the ending side (do this on front and back). Then lace it up. I used jersey string (you can use ribbon) to lace it up starting at the shoulder side and ending to the collar. Make sure you can put your head through!!! Tie ends and done...Rocker Chic! ; ) TIMESTAMPS: 1:35 Deep plunge dress 5:17 Denim slippers 14:57 Slippery dress 19:40 Laced up collar sleeved top ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/5min.crafts/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/5.min.crafts/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/5m_crafts Subscribe to 5-Minute MAGIC: http://bit.ly/2ldditZ Subscribe to 5-Minute Crafts GIRLY: https://goo.gl/fWbJqz Subscribe 5-Minute Crafts KIDS: https://goo.gl/PEuLVt The Bright Side of Youtube: https://goo.gl/rQTJZz ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.brightside.me Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com/

How to Draw a Figure | Fashion Sketching

04:35
Watch more How to Draw Fashion Sketches videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/501928-How-to-Draw-a-Figure-Fashion-Sketching Learn how to draw a figure for a fashion sketch from fashion designer Garo Sparo in this Howcast video. All right. So let's draw a figure. One thing I always start out with a pencil, because you can always erase it, and it's a good way to just get the basis going. So I always start with the head. Just think about proportion as you're doing it. The head, then the neck. We do a straight line under the neck. A good trick is to make an X here for the body. And it's great that we're doing this in pencil, as I said before, because all of this can go away later. From here, we work with a lot of elongated triangles. I'm going have this girl have her hand on her hip. So I'm doing these elongated triangles, even a little triangle for the hand, because you're going to smooth it out later. We'll give her a little arm, hanging down. It can even cross into the hand, as I just did. We'll give her some legs, and you basically segment the legs into triangles. This is how you establish the kneecaps, you do like little inverted triangle that way. And even a little inverted triangle for the foot, as well. All right. Now we go in and we smooth it all out. She kind of has a short neck, but I'm not that concerned, I can always erase that and fix it, so whatever. Basically drawing her outer silhouette now. I'll give her some bust, give her some hips. This is such a great trick because everybody knows how to draw a triangle, and then you're just smoothing over, smoothing over. She's turning out on the curvier side, but I can always fix that later as well. I'll give her her feet. Which I probably want her in high heels. All right. So, once you've gotten this process down, you've gotten it all smoothed out, you're happy with this, you're happy with that, and in fashion illustration you always elongate the form. And the reason why is you have more room to render the clothing. And that is why we make them so tall and lanky. It gives us more space to render details. Okay, now I go in with my pen. I like a nice roller pen, you can use felt tip, whatever you like. And I ink it all in. I hate drawing hands, but I will give a good attempt for you. I'll just give her like a weird mitten, but whatever, you can fix that later. That's why we have White-Out. It's never a bad idea just to put her hands behind her body, because it's all about the clothes, it's really not about her hands. And even if I'm doing these lines kind of feathery, you can always go over it again later with a thicker pen and really tighten it up. I'll give her some calves, a foot, and I'll have her have some high-heeled shoes on. She's pivoting her foot out. I'll lose this calf on this side and give her a calf on that side that tells me that her foot is being pivoted out. I'll give her a crotch. All right, so I've done the basic structure, so now I go in with my eraser and I get rid of all of the pencil. That arm is not pretty, but whatever, I can fix that later. So after a few little corrections, she'll be good to go, you can scan her into your computer. And that's how you draw a figure.
