Top 10 Books for Learning Fashion Illustration & Why Are Books Important MY SHIRT IS FULL OF GLITTER! Oh well! Ocupational hazard! (shot on 5/2/17) ***I will be remaking this video, because let's face it, it's cringy😂. Thanks for watching it anyway!❤️ Please stick around to the very end so you can understand why books are so important to a fashion illustrator. Supplies and software are secondary. A software is made to enhance your linework and make you look like a pro. Paper doesn`t lie. So why risk ruining expensive paper, when you can use it to learn fashion illustration properly? These books specialize in different parts of fashion illustration. From form construction, draping, stylizing the figure and effective medium application that will change the way you draw. Skip to 11:01 (https://youtu.be/Ho5XBn5GdOE?t=11m1s) to know why educating yourself will give you a leading edge from everyone else calling themselves a fashion illustrator. What materials do you mainly use for your drawings? In general, I use Copic Ciao markers and Touch Twin Markers, Quill Multiboard A4 white paper, 2B and HB Pentel and Faber-Castell 0.5 mechanical pencil and Faber-Castell PVC-Free Space Eraser (Cool name) and I use Uni-ball Signo white fineliner 2. Did you go to any art school or academy? No. I took Studio Arts in senior high school. It's not from that class that I learned evreything I know. I did learn new things from the class, but not to do with fashion illustration or manga drawings. I went to a regular high school, so it doesn't specialize in art. 3. How do you draw the models? Do you use any templates? I started out by tracing models from magazines which is harder than it sounds, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy. Then of course, I searched all types of videos on YouTube and some sites as well on Google, which unfortunately, I don't remember. How I learned to draw my models is using the 9-Head technique. 4. How old are you? I am now 19 years old 5. How long have you been drawing? I'm pretty sure I started drawing at 6. That's probably my oldest memory of me drawing. I got into manga drawings when I was 11 years old, I started teaching myself how to draw manga when I was 13 years old. I started developing an interest in fashion design also when I was 11, but I pursued that interest or taken it further at the age of 14. So, I would say I started drawing fashion illustration at the age of 14. 6. Where do you get your inspiration? I get my inspiration from music, photos on Instagram, Tumblr fashion trends, things that I love. There are times where I am just in an Artist's Block and I feel really brain dead where I can't draw. Or I force myself to draw and it never turns out to be something that I like. 7. Do you have any links or books you can recommend? Definitely! Fashion Illustration by Anna Kiper and Fashion Poses for Fashion Illustrators by Sha Tahmasebi are two books that I own at the moment. I'm hoping to get more. These two books are very helpful if you're a beginner or even if you want to be a bit more advanced. MUSIC: Brittle Rille by Kevin MacLeod NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED

My art materials to draw fashion sketches | Justine Leconte

04:50
This video shows you the art supplies that I use to draw fashion sketches: SKETCHING: HB and 2B grey pencils (I forgot to mention the erasers: a regular one, one that has a thin tip and a kneaded eraser which doesn’t leave residues on the sheet of paper) Graphite for quick sketching Charcoal pencil for the shadowing and to get really black backgrounds Ink pens (PIGMA 005, 05 and 1 // FABER-CASTELL Small, Medium & Bold) Fixative (either from the art supplies store or a simple hairspray) COLORING: Markers: Chartpak AD / Copic / Prismacolor (several colors + darker shades of those colors, warm and cold greys, several black tones, several skin tones and a blender) Color pencils: a regular box of colors will do the job (but you need white, black, grey and a skin tone) PAPER: Sketchbook in a format that fits your pre-made croquis, slightly see-through Marker paper (bleedproof) in a larger format. Book Review 9 Heads - Fashion Illustration Book

09:33
Join me for this book review of Nancy Riegelman's book 9 Heads. In my opinion, it is a must-have text for anyone wanting to learn how to draw the figure or improve their fashion illustrations or flat drawings. The idea for the video came from In episode 44 of That Sewing Blab when we reviewed our favourite sewing books. We invited viewers to come on screen and tell us about their favourite books. We were lucky to have some of the most talented sewist and bloggers I know come on the show to talk about their favourite books. Link to That Sewing Blab's Book Review show: https://www.crowdcast.io/e/tsb44bookreviews I wrote two follow up posts on the Duelling Designs blog which listed all the books mentioned in the show. The posts also curated other bloggers lists of favourite book, as well as my own. Links to post on the blog: http://duellingdesigns.com/2017/01/31/sewing-book-reviews-part-one/ http://duellingdesigns.com/2017/02/06/sewing-book-reviews-part-two/ Fashion Illustration Tribe link: http://www.fashionillustrationtribe.com/ Subscribe to the Duelling Designs channel for more reviews, sewing vlogs, episodes of That Sewing Blab and patternmaking videos.

Figure Drawing Book Preview

04:59
Caution: children should use child-safe art supplies. Do you want to "up" your game at figure drawing? Are you finding that your poses look stiff, without flow, or appeal? Are you looking for a book that shows you how to draw popular poses which artists use for real people, rather than life drawings of artsy poses you're unlikely to need to draw? Then you are going to find my book extremely useful - and easy to follow. "Figure It Out: Drawing Essential Poses," contains a huge number of illustrated poses, tips and techniques. It's got everything from standing poses, fashionable poses, drawing the figure from various angles, sitting poses, and more. You'll start off with a few, easy figure drawing principles, which you may never have quite understood, such as the basic technique for making standing poses look natural, how to create the look of depth and solidity to the figure, and more. All of the tutorials are equally helpful and geared for the beginner. It's available at bookstores and craft stores everywhere. So start the video, check it out, and enjoy. And as always - thanks for watching! What materials do you use for your drawings? I use Copic Ciao markers and Touch Twin Markers, Quill Multiboard white paper, 2B and HB Pentel and Faber-Castell 0.5 mechanical pencils and Faber-Castell PVC-Free Space Eraser (Cool name) and I use Uni-ball Signo white fineliner 2. Did you go to any art school or academy? No. I am taking Studio Arts in senior high school right now. It's not from that class that I learned what I know. I am learning new things from the class, but so far, not to do with fashion illustration or manga drawings. I go to a regular high school, so it doesn't specialize in art. 3. How do you draw the models? Do you use any templates? I started out by tracing models from magazines which is harder than it sounds, but once you get the hang of it, its pretty easy. Then of course, I searched all types of videos on YouTube and some sites as well on Google, which unfortunately, I don't remember. 4. How old are you? I am now 18 years old 5. I get my inspiration from music, photos on Instagram, fashion trends, things that I love. There are times where I am just in an Artist's Block and I feel really brain dead where I can't draw. Or I force myself to draw and it never turns out to be something I like. I am currently in an Artist's Block which has been going on since late October 2011, and I am finding ways to get out of it. I'll keep you posted on how I break through it :] 7. Do you have any links or books you can recommend? Definitely! How to do fashion sketches step by step

06:34
I'm Ioana Avram, fashion designer. Welcome to my Fashion teaching channel where you will find design videos starting from basic, easy level ( for beginners ) until advanced level. Follow my advices regarding the hand draw: anatomy studies, fashion poses, figures and croquis, learn about style and craft, fabrics and how to create garments. I love painting and sketching, I like fabrics and fashion magazines and especially pencil, ink and watercolor technique. I believe anyone can draw after practicing a while because all you need is work, work, work and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. :) I made this channel to prove that it's ok to have talent, but not necessary. Through my one of a kind technique you will see how easy it will be to draw from now on. You will learn more about fashion and everything related to it: composition, shading, textures, different techniques and especially learn how to draw fashion sketches all by yourself. I will post new videos each Thursday so don't forget to subscribe. I will do my best to answer all comments. Ask anything you want, and feel free to leave any suggestions for future videos! All are taken into consideration. For more info visit my website fashion-teaching.com. Thank you and take care! FAQ: 1. What materials do you use for your drawings? ****************************************************** I use Toison d'Or or Koh-I-Noor pencils ( from 4B to 8B), Copic markers, Derwent coloured pencils, Canson paper or Fabriano paper, Factis eraser, metal pencil sharper and Winsor and Newton watercolors and ink. 2. Did you go to any art school or academy? ****************************************************** Yes, I studied design and fashion design ( for 4 years) at the University of Arts and Design in Cluj, Romania, Europe. I had a scholarship in Katowice, Poland and another one in Coburg, Germany and a course attended with Gary Tu - a well-known fashion illustrator from Taipei, Taiwan. 3.Where do you get your inspiration? ****************************************************** Basically I am very interested in any image and text that could grab my attention: fashion albums, history of art, books I read, movies I see...In fact, i will share below all my sources of inspiration. Find all my inspirational folders here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/397137153755499/photos/ 4. Do you have any links or books you can recommend? ****************************************************** Definitely I would recommend Gottfried Bammes' Anatomy, Barcsay's Anatomy and David Downton's illustrations that you will find here: http://www.daviddownton.com/ and here: http://instagram.com/daviddownton 5. How long have you been drawing? ****************************************************** 30 years ago some desperate parents interdicted their 3 years old child to use pencils to draw on their house's inner walls :). Due to this, and to the fact that all pencils, brushes and markers were forbidden, the child found another way to express: all chocolate received was hidden and used to "decorate" the walls when all other tools were not available.30 years later, here I am, willing to tell a story on every wall there is. I get my inspiration from music, photos on Instagram, fashion trends, things that I love. There are times where I am just in an Artist's Block and I feel really brain dead where I can't draw. Or I force myself to draw and it never turns out to be something I like. I am currently in an Artist's Block which has been going on since late October 2011, and I am finding ways to get out of it. PLEASE READ! STYLEHAUL http://www.youtube.com/user/stylehaul?feature=watch http://stylehaul.com/ If you haven't heard already, I won't be making tutorial video until late November because of my exams. I want to put all my energy on my studies right now, so I'm postponing all the tutorial video. But, I'm not going to stop making videos. In fact, I'll keep uploading every other week a time lapse video or something that doesn't take me a few hours or even a week to make. Tutorials take ages for me to make. Please share your favorite gesture drawing tutorial videos and other resources. Thanks!
