Boot from a USB drive using VirtualBox (new method with full rd/wr access)

12:13
This video shows you how to boot from a USB drive using VirtualBox with full read/write access to the USB drive. It automatically creates the .vmdk file for the USB drive and dismounts the drive to give VBox full rd/wr access so the drive is not snapshotted. This method is much better than using Plop (which uses a read-only USB 2.0 driver and so any writes to the USB drive don't actually work). If you boot VBOX to DOS, grub4dos, grub, syslinux, Win98, etc. from a USB drive you will find that writes to the USB drive do not work unless you use DavidB's VMUB utility. This shows you how to use DavidB's Virtual Machine USB Boot Utility with VirtualBox. Using this combination, you can boot from any USB drive (including Easy2Boot USB drives). USB 3.0 drives will boot nice and fast too! Tutorial http://www.rmprepusb.com/tutorials/how-to-boot-from-usb-under-vmware-server DavidB's Boot Utility v1.6 https://github.com/DavidBrenner3/VMUB (latest version - link at top of page) Forum: http://reboot.pro/topic/18736-virtual... Blog http://rmprepusb.blogspot.co.uk/2013/... You can also UEFI-boot too. Make a VM with a 64-bit OS set and tick the BIOS EFI Advanced checkbox. For 32-bit UEFI-booting, pick a 32-bit OS for the VM type. Make sure Graphics VGA memory is larger than 64MB. Tip: Do NOT configure the VM - Settings - USB as the boot drive or it will not boot! IMPORTANT: Make sure to run both VMUB and VBox as Administrator.

Przejdź do Settings danej maszyny wirtualnej, następnie odznacz opcje "Enable Network Adapter" w zakładce Network i przechodząc do ustawień USB wybierz "Enable USB Controller". Następnie zaznacz u Ciebie działającą opcje. My użyliśmy USB 1.1 (OHCI) Controller i dodaj bezprzewodową kartę usb sieci wifi (nasza to Realtek 802.11n WLAN Adapter [0200]).

Virtual Machine To Physical Machine Migration Tutorial

15:38
V2P migration VIRTUAL TO PHYSICAL MACHINE MIGRATION ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ (NOTE: Not all motherboards support the hard drive that you migrated th virtual machine to) things needed in the migration 1) spare laptop hard drive with a hardrive to usb cable 2) vmware workstation (The trial version will work) (note: Virtualbox has not been tested with this method) import the .ova virtualbox appliance into vmware workstation this link shows you how to do that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiZMB0tLgLg 3) copy of windows - (if your installing a fresh copy of windows for migration) " iso image or physical dvd" for installaton within vmware workstation 4) a free copy of EZ Gig IV for the cloning process http://www.apricorn.com/products/software/ezgig.html 5) a) a windows computer with the correct bios settings (not all motherboards work... This is the equivalent of installing windows then moving that hard drive to a different computer... or... Installing windows then upgrading the motherboard) B) Windows laptop or desktop 1) windows laptop becasue you can take out the laptops hard drive and put in the hard drive that you migrated the virtual machine to... or if your motherboaard supports it - boot from the usb cable with your hard drive plugged in (some motherboard wont recognize the usb cable) 2) Desktop so you can plug the laptop hard drive that you migrated the virtual machine to, into the usb port and boot into windows(Note: you need power from the desktop to power the internal hard drive, I'm not sure if you can plug the laptop hard drive into the internal cables) 6) ENJOY!! LETS GET STARTED!!! 1) Download vmware workstation 2) install vmare workstation 3) create virtual machine (NOTE:) ( make the virtual machine the size of the hard drive you are migrating it to)(this just makes it easier for the software... if your virtual disk is larger or smaller than the target disk it really doesnt matter.) install the windows operating system inside the virtual machine using a physical copy of windows installation or an iso file. 4) download EZ Gig IV onto the virtual machine 5) plug your external hard drive into your computer A) back up any data on the hard drive to your host machine B) allow it to disconnect from the host and allow it to connect in the guest 6) fire up EZ Gig IV and start the cloning process (watch the video on how to successfully do this) 7) eject the hard drive after the cloning is finished 8) insert the hard drive into the new machine and try to boot if you get the blue screen of death - do not panick yet... 9) shut down the computer 10) power it on again but this time go into the bios and change the SATA configuration to something different(eg: if its on AHCI - change it to IDE) 11) try all options under SATA configuration... if it boots... CONGRATUALTIONS!! you found a compatible compter with compatible motherboard!! 12) if it didnt boot... keep trying computers and repeating steps 8 - 11 until you find a compatible computer!! Hope it worked!! THANKS

Normally, what many users do is create a partition on the hard drive and install Windows on the one hand and some Linux distribution, on the other hand. Thus, when starting the computer, we can choose to choose one of the two operating systems. We can even have several versions of Windows or several distributions of Linux. It can be interesting to, for example, use one to work and another to play, save series, etc. But there is another option in which we can have this operating system installed in a virtual machine. Virtual machine on a pendrive. In this article we are going to talk about how we can create a virtual machine on a pendrive. So we can take it with us anywhere. This is what VirtualBox portable allows us. There is an installable version on the computer, but it also gives us the opportunity to take it on a pendrive and use it elsewhere. We can, therefore, have both Windows and the operating system that we have in this virtual machine inside a pendrive. We can use it to perform tests, install applications, etc. VirtualBox Portable is very simple to use. Of course, we must take into account some aspects. One of them is the capacity of the computer where we will connect it. It may not work properly on some old computer or with fewer resources. In the same way we have to take into account the size of the pendrive. An operating system is something that occupies more or less depending on the version. Some may require several gigs and we may not have enough. For example, Ubuntu requires about 5 GB of space. If we opt for an older version such as Windows XP, we would only need 1.5 GB. Also keep in mind that not all operating systems are compatible with this virtual machine to use on a flash drive. Although they are the most and the best known. Of course, we must provide the installation file, as well as the serial number in the case of Windows. Moving on to the configuration and start-up aspect, the first thing to do is format the pendrive as an NTFS file system. It is most advisable since FAT32 in some cases can give problems when limiting the size of files. Later we have to download VirtualBox Portable, the application to create the virtual machine on a pendrive. It gives us the option of 32 and 64 bits. Once the extraction of files and installation begins on the pendrive, this process may take a few minutes. From here we can run the virtual machine on the pendrive. The next thing would be to put the operating system that we choose. We will have ready our USB memory that we can take anywhere with our operating system.

We also install Guest Additions on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS for better performance and usability features: Automatic Resizing Guest Display, Shared Folder, Seamless Mode and Shared Clipboard, Improved Performance and Drag and Drop. Steps: 1- Create Virtual Machine on Oracle VirtualBox 2- Start Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS Installation 3- Install VirtualBox Guest Additions on Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS 4- Test Guest Additions Features: Automatic Resizing Guest Display and Shared Clipboard Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS New Features and Improvements Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS is the third point release in the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS series, and the second to be released this year. Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS will follow it early next year. Ubuntu LTS releases come with 5 years of ongoing package updates, bug fixes, hardware improvements, and security patches. A point release is an updated version of the LTS installation image that rolls together all of these updates. This helps to reduce the number of packages and patches that a user has to download after installation. It also ships with a new hardware enablement stack (HWE). This is composed of a recent Linux kernel release, graphics drivers (including mesa 17) and display server. The updated hardware stack in Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS brings Linux 4.10 kernel with it. This is the same kernel available in the Ubuntu 17.04 release. As with all kernel updates this offers improved hardware support, particularly for newer devices, as well as performance improvements, and better power management. The next HWE will likely ship with the kernel from Ubuntu 17.10, which at the time of writing is looking like Linux 4.13.
