Create new database (name: ACMEDW), unlock OWBSYS use and apply password-123456 in Oracle 11g

20:18
Creating the database We can install a new database using Database Configuration Assistant 1. The first step is to specify what action to take. Since we do not have a database created, we'll select the Create a Database option in Step 1. 2. This step will offer the following three options for a database template to select:  General Purpose or Transaction Processing  Custom Database  Data Warehouse We are going to choose the Data Warehouse option for our purposes 3. This step of the database creation will ask for a database name. Since we're creating this database for the data warehouse of ACME Toys and Gizmos Company, we'll choose a name that reflects this—ACME for the company name and DW for data warehouse, resulting in a database name of ACMEDW. As the database name is typed in, the SID (or Oracle System Identifier) is automatically filled in to match it. 4. This step of the database creation process asks whether we want to configure Enterprise Manager. The box is checked by default and leave it as is. 5. On this screen (step 5) we can set the database passwords on the system accounts using a different one for each account, or by choosing one password for all four. We're going to set a single password on all four, but for added security in a production environment, it is a good idea to make a different password for each. Click on the option to Use the Same Administrative Password for All Accounts and enter a password. 6. This step is about storage. We'll leave it at the default of File System for storage management. The other two options are for more advanced installations that have greater storage needs. 7. This step is for specifying the locations where database files are to be created. This can be left at the default for simplicity 8. The next screen is for configuring recovery options. We're up to step 8 now. If we were installing a production database, we would want to make sure to use the Flash Recovery option and to Enable 22 WE-IT TUTORILAS PHNO:8097071144/55 Archiving. Flash Recovery is a feature Oracle has implemented in its database to provide a location that is managed by the database. It stores backups and files needed to recover a database in the event of disk failure. With Flash Recovery Area specified, we can recover data that would otherwise be lost in a system failure. 9. 9. This step is where we can have the installation program create some sample schemas in the database for our reference, and specify any custom scripts to run. The text on the screen can be read to decide whether they are needed or not. We don't need either of these for this book, so it doesn't matter which option we choose. 10. The next screen is for Initialization Parameters. These are the settings that are put in place to define various options for the database such as Memory options. 11. The next screen is for security settings. For the purposes of this book and its examples, we'll check the box to Revert to pre-11g security settings since we don't need the additional features. However, for a production environment, it is a good idea to leave the default checked to use Oracle's more advanced security features. 12. This step is automatic maintenance and we'll deselect that option and move on, since we don't need that additional functionality. Automatic Maintenance Tasks are tasks that run in predefined maintenance windows of time to perform various preconfigured maintenance operations on the database. 13. The next step (step 13 of 14) is the Database Storage screen referred to earlier. Here the locations of the pre-built data and control files can be changed if needed. They should be left set to the default for simplicity since this won't be a production database. For a production environment, we would want to consider storing datafiles on separate partitions for performance reasons, and to minimize the impact of disk failures on the running database if something goes wrong. 14. The final step has the following three options, and any or all can be selected for creating the database:  Create the database directly  Save the creation options as a template for later use  Save database creation scripts that can be used later to create the database The Next button is grayed out since this is the last screen. So click on the Finish button to begin creating the database using the selections we've just chosen. It will display a summary screen showing what options it will be using to install with.

Oracle Database XE Forgot Password

05:27
In this video, we’ll learn how to reset the password for an account in Oracle XE. Are you running Oracle database XE 11.2 and forgot your password? It can be for any Oracle XE version actually, but this is the latest one at the moment. Don’t worry, there are a few ways to recover this password. It also depends on if you know the password, and if you’re able to log in to the account still, as there is a time limit on these passwords. If you’ve forgotten it, then you won’t be able to log in as that account. But this video will help you reset the password so you can use the account again. Reset Your Ubuntu Password

I am usually pretty good when it comes to remembering my passwords. However, I had setup a test virtual machine in Virtual Box using Ubuntu 14.04 and for whatever reason, I used a unique password for it. When I tried to sign into the virtual machines, I couldn't get in. So I found a way to reset the password and figured someone else out there may be able to benefit from this information as well. Identifying & Locking default (service) accounts in Oracle

01:37
Oracle default installation comes up with several database accounts that're opened and have escalated privileges. Oracle database installs with a number of default database user accounts. Upon successful installation of the database, the Database Configuration Assistant automatically locks and expires most default database user accounts. If you perform a manual (without using Database Configuration Assistant) installation of Oracle Database, then no default database users are locked upon successful installation of the database server. Or, if you have upgraded from a previous release of Oracle Database, you might have default accounts from earlier releases. Left open in their default states, these user accounts can be exploited, to gain unauthorized access to data or disrupt database operations. You should lock and expire all default database user accounts. Oracle Database provides SQL statements to perform these operations.

This tutorial series is part of SQL expert exam certification training. if you are preparing for SQL certification you can use my tutorials. This SQL Tutorial is a part of free training. We can also say that SQL tables are kind of data structure which are used by database for efficient storage of data. To create a table in our database we use SQL CREATE TABLE command. SQL CREATE TABLE is a type of DATA DEFINITION LANGUAGE also known as DDL. To Create a table in your schema you will require CREATE TABLE system privilege. In our future videos we will see what are system and object privileges and how to grant them to a user. Today for this video we will be using Sample schema HR which already has all the necessary privileges. Ohk Let's see the syntax. CREATE TABLE table name ( column name1 Data-Type(size), column name2 Data-Type(size), ..... ); CREATE TABLE is an oracle reserved word or say an Oracle key word whereas There are 3 different ways of creating a table in Oracle database. Creating a table using Command Line Interface (CLI) in Oracle database For demonstrating how to create table in oracle database using CLI, I'll be using Command prompt. Thats how we create table using command prompt. you can check your table structure by DESCRIBE command for that just write DESC and your table name. Like this Another way of creating a table is by using Graphic user interface (GUI) in Oracle database To demonstrate how to create table using GUI we will use SQL developer. Lets open our SQL developer I am connected to HR schema if you do not know how to create a connection to database using SQL developer please watch my oracle database tutorial 4 that explains database connectivity using SQL developer and command prompt. Link for this video is in the description below. So lets create a table. Creating a table using SQL developer is very easy we do not have to fire any query here. Let's start First of all right click on your connection in which you want to create a table and choose schema browser. This will open a separate schema browser pane or you can expend your connection by clicking this + sign and then right click on table and choose New Table. However I prefer working with schema browser so let's skip to schema browser pane here from the first drop-down list you can choose connection name and in the second drop down list you can choose what database objects you want to work with we want to create a table thus I'll choose table and then click this arrow here and choose option for new table Ok we have created a table wizard first of all give a unique name to your table and add some column as well. For this, click the green plus button. Now we already have a column so give it some name. Also choose a datatype from the list and specify any size you can check this not null column if in case you want to make this a mandatory column you can also specify default value and constraint If you want to make this column a primary key you can click here In my future video i'll show you what are these constraints and different ways of applying them on a column in a table. for this video we will concentrate on create table only so when you are done with all your columns click ok Thats your table You can double click on your table here and can see its structure. Thats it

Quickstart: Getting Started with Oracle and .NET

08:56
New to Oracle and .NET development? This video gives you everything you need to know to get up and running quickly! We walk you through downloading and installing the needed Oracle software and then connecting in Visual Studio and creating a simple C# application. The video starts at the Oracle .NET Developer Technology Center website at http://otn.oracle.com/dotnet We then download the "ODTwithODAC" package, extract it and run the installer. Note that ODAC version 12 works with Oracle Database versions 10.2 or higher. After installing we connect in Server Explorer and learn about the connection dialog features, including the Filters tab which by default filters out additional schemas you may have privileges on. We connect to the database using the easy to use EZ connect format. Finally we create a simple C# application and connect to the database using ODP.NET Managed driver and a EZ Config connect string. Prerequisites: 1) Visual Studio 2012 or 2013 -- any edition except Express Edition. Visual Studio Community Edition is supported. 2) An Oracle Database to connect to. You will need to know the hostname, port number and service name of the database. During the video we install: Oracle Data Provider for .NET Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio Oracle .NET Samples Oracle .NET Documentation

Add User and password authentication to virtualbox vm RDP connection

08:24
Secure virtual machine RDP connections with user authentication. In this tutorial I show you how to implement user and password authentication for RDP connections in Virtualbox. Virtualbox allows for a lot of flexibility in the implementation of user and password authentication for RDP connections. Through the use of external authentication libraries you are able to chose a multitude of authentication schemes that suit your security needs. The two built in methods are the default VBOXAUTH library that uses PAM on Linux systems and the VBOXAuthSimple library that allows you to store user and password information within the VM's hardware configuration file. As the VBOXAuthSimple library stores user information within the hardware configuration file as "extradata" you are able to move the VM to another host machine and have the users and paswords go with it. Where as with the default VBOXAUTH method you would need to setup the users again on the new host machine. Another plus is that the VBOXAuthSimple method of storing passwords and usernames would be OS agnostic. If this is the first time you have started SQL Developer on your system, you are prompted to enter the full path to java.exe (for example, C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_021\bin\java.exe). Either type the full path after the prompt or browse to it, and then press the key Enter. In the Connections frame, click the icon New Connection. In the New/Select Database Connection window: Type the appropriate values in the fields Connection Name, Username, and Password. For security, the password characters that you type appear as asterisks. Near the Password field is the check box Save Password. By default, it is deselected. Oracle recommends accepting the default. If the Oracle pane is not showing, click the tab Oracle. In the Oracle pane, accept the default values. (The default values are: Connection Type, Basic; Role, default, Hostname, localhost; Port, 1521; SID option, selected; SID field, xe.) Click the button Test. The connection is tested. If the connection succeeds, the Status indicator changes from blank to Success. Complete Notes Available
