"Help, I'm having a Dispatching Dilemma!" Do you work in auto transport dispatch and you're saying that, too? Are you feeling dispatching stress about not having cars booked and concerned about booking loads fast? Or are you a car hauling business owner operator simply searching for better dispatching strategies? If any of these questions applies to you, then you're the reason I made this video called: "Auto Transport Dispatch Tips Dispatching Advice For Booking Loads Fast".
Auto Transport Dispatch Free Dispatching Advice
Hi, I'm Jay - the Car Hauling Dispatcher at Auto Transport Intel. I've been dispatching cars for years and I've got a lot of great dispatch tips and dispatching advice that I'm sharing for free. Since I totally understand what needing instant dispatching help feels like, I made this video to help you learn how to dispatch better paying loads for the car hauling business you work with. So let's get started.
Here are 6 Steps of Dispatch Tips and Dispatching Advice for Booking Loads Fast
STEP 1: Analyze The Situation
Take stock of your current dispatching situation, including: full capacity of the car hauling trailer, how many cars you already have booked, where your driver is planning to go, how many miles this leg of the trip will be, how many days it should take, and how much money you were trying to make.
STEP 2: Get Prepared To Work
Whether you drink coffee, soda or energy drinks, get a big cup of yours ready and have a seat at your dispatching workstation - because you aren't leaving your dispatch desk until this dispatching job is done.
STEP 3: Search Everything That Makes Sense
Assuming you are using Central Dispatch as your main dispatch load board, use a good map to choose multiple states for pick up and select every state possible for delivery. Widen your load board search filter settings to see as many loads as possible. Sift through every load that would make sense and then begin to weed out what would make no sense at all to book. And "STAY POSITIVE!"
STEP 4: Look For Better Paying Connection Loads
If booking one car that will go all the way to your final destination is going to pay much less than booking two cars that will require a connection city in the middle, then clearly you should consider taking the time to make the connection. Be sure to get all the vehicle and location details! And take care not to load up your driver with too many connection loads to where the time lost continually picking up and dropping will not improve your overall economic picture. Remember: time is money, too!
STEP 5: Keep Your Eyes Open & Make Phone Calls
Keep multiple search windows open and start calling anything that makes sense. No need planning around a dispatched load that you know nothing about! Get details about the dispatch by talking with the brokers and shippers. There's plenty of information to learn on a transport phone call that may not be listed on the load board screen. Keep refreshing your load board searches while you are on the phone and maybe the perfect connection load will suddenly pop up - thus changing your whole perspective about the trip you are booking!
STEP 6: Update The Driver With A Plan and Progress
Now that you know more than you did before, call the driver and tell them what you've been working on. Be brief, yet specific. And if by chance you learn they do not like your new dispatching plan, be prepared to adapt and change as needed. Do not force your driver to make your plan work. This is a team effort, and in the long run, if either side of the team begins to be a real problem, take it as a sign to have a heart-to-heart discussion about the future. Sometimes during these tougher times is when we find out what's really going to work (or not work) in the future.
