What is SHORT SEA SHIPPING? What does SHORT SEA SHIPPING mean? SHORT SEA SHIPPING meaning - SHORT SEA SHIPPING definition - SHORT SEA SHIPPING explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ The modern terms short sea shipping, marine highway and motorways of the sea refer to the historical terms coastal trade, coastal shipping, coasting trade and coastwise trade, which encompass the movement of cargo and passengers mainly by sea along a coast, without crossing an ocean. 'Deep-sea shipping', 'intercontinental shipping' or 'ocean shipping' refers to maritime traffic that crosses oceans. While 'short-sea shipping' is the term used in Europe, the United States also has used the term, 'marine highway'. Historically, many developed English-speaking countries used the British term 'coasting trade' or 'coastwise trade', which is still used. The coastwise slave trade referred to the domestic slave trade in the United States that shipped slaves by water from the Upper South to major markets, especially New Orleans. The United States maintained this term from its colonial era and began regulating the coastwise trade as early as 1793, with the Congressional passage of "An act for enrolling and licensing ships and vessels to be employed in the coasting trade and fisheries, and for regulating the same", which passed on 18 February that year. Over the years, it has been codified as 46 U.S.C., Coastwise Trade. Some short sea ship vessels are small enough to travel inland on inland waterways. Short sea shipping includes the movements of wet and dry bulk cargoes, containers and passengers around the coast (say from Lisbon to Rotterdam or from New Orleans to Philadelphia). Typical ship sizes range from 1,000 DWT (tonnes deadweight – i.e. the amount of cargo they carry) to 15,000 DWT with drafts ranging from around 3 to 6 m (10 to 20 ft). Typical cargoes include grain, fertilisers, steel, coal, salt, stone, scrap and minerals (all in bulk), oil products (such as diesel oil, kerosene, aviation spirit – all in bulk), containers and passengers. Short sea shipping should not be mistaken with inland navigation. In Europe, short sea shipping is at the forefront of the European Union's transportation policy. It currently accounts for roughly 40% of all freight moved in Europe. In the US, short sea shipping has yet to be used to the extent it is in Europe, but there is some development. The main advantages promoted for this type of shipping are alleviation of congestion, decrease of air pollution, and overall cost savings to the shipper and a government. Shipping goods by ship (one 4,000 DWT vessel is equivalent to between 100–200 trucks) is far more efficient and cost-effective than road transport (though the goods, if bound inland, have to be transferred and delivered by truck) and is much less prone to theft and damage. Roughly 40% of all freight moved in Europe is classified as Short Sea Shipping, but the greater percentage of this cargo moves through Europe’s heartland on rivers and not oceans. In the past decade the term Short Sea Shipping has evolved in a broader sense to include point-to-point cargo movements on inland waterways as well as inland to ocean ports for transhipment over oceans.

One of the MariTIM innovation projects - the Wind Hybrid Coaster A new generation of motor-rotor-sailing ships is currently being developed especially for short sea trade. The basis is a 4.000 dwt multipurpose vessel. 15 partners are cooperating to implement a lightweight design of a wind sail system with aerodynamic rotors for small coasters. High rotational speeds of the ECO FLETTNER-rotors are supposed to exploit the energy of a wide range of wind speeds. The engine propulsion, the fuel consumption and therefore noxious emissions can be reduced by the additionally obtained thrust through wind energy. Two high performance ECO FLETTNER-rotors with a sail area of about 108 square meters will take over up to 100% of the propulsion power demand under optimal wind conditions. The propulsion concept of the WHC includes the sail system and an engine drive, which consists of generators and two electric motors. The addional engine power is transmitted via a drive shaft with a fixed pitch propeller and is supposed to allow a service speed of 12 knots. The drive system is adjustable and with increasing sailing performance the engine power can be reduced efficiently. At present the ECO FLETTNER-prototype is being build in Leer and will be tested at next on a trial ship. For first function tests on shore a trial version of the GRP-cylinder manufactured and the rotor pivot with bearings, electrical drive and control unit are erected and in function. Following the tests on shore the ECO FLETTNER will be installed on a ship for first sea trials under real weather conditions. After proof of safe and economic operation a new green ship prototype with a tailor-made rotor drive system is being developed. The so called “Wind Hybrid Coaster” is designed to meet all market requirements for the coastal trade at a minimized carbon footprint. Seven years ago, Jeremy and Mira Thompson quit their jobs and sold their suburban home to hit the road in a short-bus they’d converted into a mobile home. After a year on the road, they’d gone through their savings and were thinking about starting a family. Now living on family property in rural Washington they bought a full-sized school bus at auction. This time they stripped away the metal behind the cab and embedded a wooden cottage inside their new vehicle. Jeremy used his experience as an auto body mechanic and recent education in architectural drafting to design their conversions. He had also turned his carpentry into paid work and needed a workshop. After finding a very affordable container - one that had been tagged as scrap-, Jeremy began to convert it into a wooden clad (on 3 sides) office with a green roof. And subsequent takeoff from the deck with a Foxbat A22 aircraft built by Aeroprakt. With footage of six cameras including inside the aircraft. Whilst filming a plane flying close to a cargo ship that already had the nickname "aircraft carrier" due to its unique features, the "just in case something goes wrong" flat area for emergency landings just looks too good, so I cannot restrain myself and get away with landing on the moving ship. The ship was empty and very bow high which is not that visible in the video due to the camera angles, that created annoying low level turbulence and an untidy landing. Tom and Aalbert save the day by courageously helping me to take off, as the deck was slippery with salt spray. I won't do it again unless an aircraft carrier would invite me (please do !). But it worked - thanks to an amazing aircraft, the STOL Aeroprakt Foxbat A22. The ship was sailing at 9 knots speed over ground, the true windspeed was 14 knots, combined just under the full flap stall speed with just myself in the plane and full long range fueltanks. Thanks everyone for the help ! The ship is a 3,500 tonne multipurpose vessel with a total length 93 metres, deck in front of bridge 60 metres x 15 metres. The ship, due to its unique design, has twice the deck space and hold space of conventional ships of the same tonnage. It is designed for volume, not for weight. Oct 13. PS after the ship docked a few days later in Portugal its crew sent footage from more cameras by USB stick - here that video: http://youtu.be/BcQLa_25PkU. That is also better edited than the first video (sorry ... windows live moviemaker now replaced by better editing software plus I whacked the video together in just an hour on the laptop whilst travelling :-)

Mind the Gap, an analysis of worldwide trade in Mediterranean bluefin tuna, shows a significant gap in the trade of bluefin tuna, compared to what can be caught legally every year. In 2008, the gap between the trade and quota was 31 percent. By 2010, that gap grew to 141 percent. But solutions exist. Pew is calling for an electronic catch documentation system to replace the current paper system, to allow for better tracking and monitoring of the bluefin tuna trade. Film starts at 0:11. How much do we really know about Somali piracy? Several compelling stories from the world of piracy lend a new and unique perspective on this issue. Flimmer Film AS has managed to get on board the KNM Fritjof Nansen during the three first weeks of their six-month mission, operating as an on-board camera team. Subscribe to wocomoDOCS: https://goo.gl/sBmGkp Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wocomo © 2010, Licensed by First Hand Films This synopsis is written while on board, after having had three encounters with Somali pirates, and several interceptions of suspected skiffs. Compared to other military vessels in the EU and NATO forces in the Bay of Aden, the Fritjof Nansen is regularly involved with such skirmishes. We have also acquired exclusive rights to rare footage from a real-life hostage situation. The well-known pirate incident on the Russian MV Faina was filmed with a hidden mobile phone, smuggled in by one of the crew members’ underwear. Piracy is large-scale theft, but when risk hits one of the aortas of global shipping trade, the Somalian pirates aren’t the only ones making big bucks. Huge investments and expensive cargoes are at stake. We show you how the piracy capital of the world is not necessarily Eyl in Somalia, but just as much London. Here, we find insurance companies, lawyers, specialized negotiators and professional ransom handlers. It’s all big business, and these surrounding industries are arguably even more lucrative than the Somalian pirates' activities themselves. Shipping companies that are wary of the EU and reluctant to cash out the extra insurance premiums might make other, more controversial arrangements: security companies are now also making inlets into the industry. Here, we see footage from a secret training camp of one such company. The bill for this growing, lucrative pirate industry? The shipping companies pass the cost increases onto customers, with insurance companies following suit. Everyone else seems to win; the pirates, the navy, the lawyers, the insurance companies and maybe even the shipping companies – all but normal people and, of course, a few sailors.

Complex geopolitical maneuvering explained with Game of Thrones and . . . googly eyes. Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Tariffs can be used as a useful tool to protect domestic industry or to serve as a punitive measure against another country. But President Trump’s bluster and threats of imposing tariffs on foreign imports to the US have raised the specter of a trade war with China, and more recently, Mexico. The “weapons” used in a trade war are the stuff we use everyday — the food we eat, the cars we drive to work and the computers we use. If a trade war can have such a pervasive impact on our daily lives, why would a country choose to engage in one? And what even is a trade war anyway? It spans over 60 countries and will cost over a trillion dollars. The plan is to make it easier for the world to trade with China, by funding roads, railways, pipelines, and other infrastructure projects in Asia and Africa. China is loaning trillions of dollars to any country that's willing to participate and it's been a big hit with the less democratic countries in the region. This makes the BRI a risky plan as well. But China is pushing forward because its goals are not strictly economic, they're also geopolitical. Economies depend on open global trade and leading companies are moving to port centric logistics for their international supply chains. This gives greater visibility of stock in transit and improved management of shipping containers and trailers for short sea shipping. The benefits of port centric logistics come from reducing the number of legs in the supply chain, lower lead times and the ability to reduce inventory levels. At the port this eliminates demurrage charges, improves cash flow and simplifies container logistics. Port centric logistics solutions cut costs and cut carbon footprints.

Because vicious political infighting between the Tory and Whig politic parties made it difficult to pass new tax laws, Harley turned to a private financier named John Blunt to help find enough money for England to keep up with its expenses for the year. Using Harley's government resources, Blunt instigated a series of get-rich schemes that drove artificial demand for unsustainable land and lottery investments with tremendous short term gains. Before the year was done, Blunt had successfully covered the shortfall for the government that year - albeit at the cost of driving England's already outrageous debt even higher. ___________ Get the intro music here! http://bit.ly/1EQA5N7 *Music by Demetori: http://bit.ly/1AaJG4H Listen to the outro music here! http://bit.ly/1ERCS9G __________ Extra History - Warring States Japan: Sengoku Jidai Chapter 1: Battle of Okehazama: http://bit.ly/1xgZxfi James Recommends - City Building Games Across the Ages Anno Series (Dawn of Discovery): http://bit.ly/18mJxPg

LEARN MORE INFO AND SCHEDULE A COACHING SESSION TO LEARN TO TRADE STOCK OPTIONS FOR HUGE PROFITS IN BOTH UP AND DOWN MARKET CONDITIONS BY VISITING: HTTPS://WWW.MARKETCRASH.MONEY Did you miss out on bitcoin? Or did you arrive too late to the party and bought it at the highest level? Don't feel bad. It's not your fault. Did you know you can get "bitcoin like" results almost every week? Are you just starting out as a trader? Have you been trading for some time, but would like to get better results? I can definitely help you. My name is Leonardo. I help people with a dream make it a reality through trading weekly options. Why should you listen to me? I have been trading for 12 years. I have a very simple system. You don’t have to be a math wizard to use it. My returns range from 100% to 5000% and I typically hold my positions for 48-72 hours. I am not right a 100% of the time. I am a human being. I like coaching people that are risk takers, aggressive and don’t like being average. If you are happy with average results this is definitely not the right place for you. So if you are a conservative trader my trading style may be too unorthodox for you. My best live trading day is turning 12k into $466,864.86 in 6 hours and 39 minutes. Which represents a 3800% return. My trading strategy works with smaller amounts as well. If you are looking for a longer term investment, my strategy could be applied to 3 months, 6 months, 1 year and 2 year time frames as well. For test purposes, I have recently conducted a real-life study, where I took $72 and turned it into $2384 in 5 trading days. Which represents a return of 3300%. Some of my trades do lose money. I would be very skeptical if someone promised you a system that made money 100% of the time. Take advantage of the market crash before it takes advantage of you! 2018 is the year of amazing opportunities to profit from market corrections and drops and I know you don’t want to miss out on them! Schedule your breakthrough coaching session now and start making money in as little as 7-14 days. Because I learned everything by DOING I can share a wealth of information with you that will save you thousands of dollars and hours learning it through making your own mistakes. I like coaching both new and experienced traders. I believe the best way to learn is one on one coaching. I personally wish I had a coach like myself to guide me when I started and throughout my trading journey. The initial consultation is only $89. But it’s worth thousands because you will get: 1. The blueprint of what it took to turn 12k into 466K in less than 7 hours. 2. The study of turning $72 into $2384 in 5 days. 3. 30 minutes of one on one phone time with me. 4. The simple 3 step system will be revealed to you. After the initial consultation, you can choose 30, 60 or 90-day coaching program with me. In most cases, you will be able to start trading and making money in 7-14 days. In the event you don’t choose a coaching program, you get to keep all the tremendous value from the consultation. Just the consultation alone could give you the necessary edge you may be looking for to take your skill to the next level. If you want to go deep sea fishing in the ocean of weekly options, I 'll be your captain. https://www.marketcrash.money Feel free to contact me with any questions 386-4ninezero-43ninezero

A few movie clips taken with Super8 camera late 1960's and early 1970's aboard the coasters "Spree" and "Donau". Coasters are small vessels (appr. up to 100m length) operating (usually) in short sea trade. I copied the originals by filming from screen in absolute dark room. Why to show the world? I spent a lot of time during my childhood and youth on these two ships. Had a lot of fun, saw many foreign countries and ports, learnt to be a guest and not a tourist, enjoyed as many sunsets as was badly seasick...In other words: It was a great time and maybe I can share a bit with you. For those who are interested: The vessels "Spree" and "Donau" were owned and managed by Schepers-Rhein-See-Linie, Duisburg, Germany.

MARINE HISTORY OF INDIA Indian maritime history begins during the 3rd millennium BCE when inhabitants of the Indus Valley initiated maritime trading contact with Mesopotamia. The Roman historian Strabo mentions an increase in Roman trade with India following the Roman annexation of Egypt. By the time of Augustus up to 120 ships were setting sail every year from Myos Hormos to India. As trade between India and the Greco-Roman world increased spices became the main import from India to the Western world, bypassing silk and other commodities. Indians were present in Alexandria while Christian and Jew settlers from Rome continued to live in India long after the fall of the Roman empire, which resulted in Rome's loss of the Red Sea ports, previously used to secure trade with India by the Greco-Roman world since the Ptolemaic dynasty. The Indian commercial connection with South East Asia proved vital to the merchants of Arabia and Persia during the 7th–8th century. Indians were the first settlers in Australia. 4230 years before they sailed from India to Australia with their dingoes. 11 percent of Aboriginal DNA is of Indian descent. On orders of Manuel I of Portugal, four vessels under the command of navigator Vasco da Gama rounded the Cape of Good Hope, continuing to the eastern coast of Africa to Malindi to sail across the Indian Ocean to Calicut. The wealth of the Indies was now open for the Europeans to explore. The Portuguese Empire was the first European empire to grow from spice trade.

And we got to know them well. And early on it was clear that this was going to be a booming opportunity for subprime lenders. I mean, you were taking debt that was costing folks very high rates on credit cards and pulling equity out of homes. And so that was a natural arbitrage that created this big opportunity. And then using subprime to fund the purchase of second homes, driving up real estate prices. And I was actually at a breakfast with a company coming public that I ended up investing in where I asked them a number of questions about how these loans work. And it became very clear that the whole key to those loans was home price appreciation. And at that breakfast, I kind of logged this view, that, wow, when this turns, it's going to be a very significant credit event. Let me, if I may just interrupt to observe, how unusual it is for someone who has been long, a big theme, to turn around and successfully to change views and become short, successfully, that same theme. It's done sometimes at a bar in recounting fabulous fabled stories, but rarely in real life. Tell me about kind of the intellectual flexibility this requires. When did you decide to kind of jettison the bullish view on subprime? Well, it was a matter of first developing understanding of what was going on and how this reflexive process, classic Soros reflexive process was interacting with the real world. And it was very simple. Easy credit drive up home prices. The fact that home prices was growing up was making credit easier. And so it was a matter of how long that would play out and when it would end. We had the patience to wait. And we made some money in long side of some of the subprime lenders during this period. And it was really gaining the knowledge of what these CDO and CDS securities were that was an eye-opening opportunity for me.

Desperate to escape conflict and poverty, thousands of migrants and refugees attempt the perilous journey to Europe each year, with many crossing the Mediterranean Sea from North Africa in rubber dinghies and wooden boats. In the wake of the decommissioning of Mare Nostrum, a search and rescue operation run by Italy, the humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), launched their own vessel, named the Bourbon Argos, to find those stranded at sea and save those in trouble on one of the deadliest routes to Europe. On board the vessel, refugees and migrants are provided with medical aid, food, and shelter, then brought safely to Italian shores. Having survived life in Libya, ruthless treatment by smugglers, and horrific conditions aboard flimsy boats, once aboard the Bourbon Argos they face yet more uncertainty as they approach Europe. VICE News teamed up with MSF to document these search and rescue missions in the Mediterranean and speak to rescued refugees and migrants, hearing about the suffering they have endured in their attempts to reach a new life. I am Brian Price, joined today by David Martin, CIO and founder of Martin Fund Management and also formerly of the New York Board of Trade and the New York Mercantile Exchange. David, thank you so much for joining us on Real Vision. My pleasure. So we're going to be getting into coffee today. And you've got a great trade for us. But before we do that, I was wondering if you could give me a little bit of historical perspective. What are some of the catalysts that traders should look for when it comes to trading coffee? Sure. So generally, coffee has its own supply and demand economics that it follows. Weather is a big factor, currency is a factor, whether it's an on-year or off-year for coffee. Agronomically, the way the crop grows, there's an on-cycle and an off-cycle each year. And it alternates. Certain inputs like irrigation, fertilizer, cost of labor-- all these things contribute to, let's say, we'll call that the cost of production for coffee on a per-pound basis. It's grown over a number of different countries. Primarily, Brazil and Colombia produce most of the world's coffee. Also, an increasing base is Vietnam. But people look to Brazil as the largest producer in the first place for an indication of what's happening in the market. So this year, we've seen a coffee drop to a 10-year low, below $1. What drove that move forward? So I think it's important to examine this from a macro perspective. Earlier in the year, particularly in the summer, you had this sell emerging market theme in the markets. You saw that the Brazilian currency, the real in particular, based on a number of insecurities with their economy, with the upcoming elections, a lot of traders, a lot of macro participants jumped on that currency and basically sold it down to record lows. Along with that, they took a market like coffee, which is a niche market in the first place, and expressed that macro view in the coffee market, in a niche market regardless of the supply and demand economics of coffee. So you saw prices drop well below the cost of production, well below the $1.20 level, to as low as $0.95. I've been trading this market for almost 30 years. I've seen a lot of unusual things. This was one of those events where I said, this is not going to stay like this. Farmers were hurting. At that price, it was really difficult for any of them to actually continue doing what they were doing. At the same time, the participants were growing an increasingly large short position, well beyond anything they had historically in the past. In the past, a large position for the spec funds, the speculators, would be 40,000 contracts. They had it over 115,000 contracts, which honestly is absurd for this market. So I saw that large open interest. That was all short, 20% below the cost of production. At the same time, the real, the currency, started to improve once some focus came into view regarding the Brazilian elections. And I said this market looks like it's going to turn around. So that was the compelling opportunity that I saw.

I want to share with you a trade that I got WRONG big-time from the start. SUBSCRIBE: https://bit.ly/2MsGjRR If you want more actionable Forex trading tips and strategies, go to https://www.tradingwithrayner.com FOLLOW RAYNER: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/forextradingwithrayner Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/rayner_teo My YouTube channel: http://bit.ly/2EFg5VN This is a trade on Pound Aussie, the daily time frame, and I just want to share with you my thought process to why I took this trade. So you can see that the price pretty much came into this area of resistance over here. Over here price came into this level and it got rejected, right? Cause you saw you saw this bearish reversal pattern at a nice round number of one point eight. And this obvious market structure resistance. So when this occurred, I told myself that I wanna get short because I'm against this obvious market structure. So I'm going down to a lower time frame, the four hour time frame, to look for an entry trigger. One ATR is somewhere about here and I went short. And as you can see at this point in time - boom. I just got stopped out. The market just rallied against me and I took the loss on this trade. Now at this point, I wanna say that I don't regret making this trade. Yes I am wrong on this trade. The market has proved me wrong big time. But I have my stops in place to kinda contain the losses. But what happens is that, what if you hesitate to take the loss? What if you are thinking, lets say for example at this point in time, the price is now back at resistance. You can see that trading is all about balancing your risk to reward. You never know how much the market will move in your favor. You never know how much the market will move against you. All you can do is to have a set of rule to play good defense and to take what the market offers you. So the three trades I shared with you, although the first two are losing trades, it hit my stop loss, I'm just protecting myself. So I kinda leave it to you, depending on your trading goals, how you want to manage this trade. Right this is platinum. Another trade that I want to share with you is the Pound against the Swiss Franc. This one over here you can see that this market is in a down trend. In fact, there is this minor structure over here that I didn't draw it, but you can see it over here. That's that once, here, okay, and then here second time, and then third time over here. But what's interesting is that if you look at the four hour timeframe, there is a chart pattern that is showing you signs of weakness in the market. This is a chart pattern, is what we call the descending triangle. Notice that there is lower highs coming into this area of support. This tells you that the buyers try to push price higher, but keep getting smashed down lower by the sellers at lower and lower prices. So now the buyers are kinda constrained, they are pushed into a corner. And if you ask me, there's a good chance, there's a good chance that this market could break down lower. So what I'm looking for is for a break and close below this area of support. If it does, again I'll go short, have my stops one ATR above this high, somewhere here, and try to ride the downward swing. And see, and to take what the market offers. If it's not going to offer anything I just bail out and say "Sayonara. Thank you and I'm out. See ya." So that's what I'm doing on this Pound Swiss Franc trade. That's the setup that I'm looking at, okay? So these are the couple of trading opportunities that I feel that is worth watching for this coming week. And hopefully the first three trades that I share with you are good lessons to kinda ground you into what you should expect from trading. So with that said I have come to the end of this week's market analysis. If you have enjoyed it please hit the subscribe button below. Just click on it, duh duh duh click. Hit the like button. If you have any feedback, comments, questions, leave it in the comment section below and I'll get back to you. Alright so that's it. I wish you good luck and good trading until next time.

Today, we're sitting down with Mark Newton of Newton Advisors. Great to have you here. Thank you, Justine. So what are you watching in the markets today? I want to talk about the use of implied volatility, and why I think increasingly it looks quite attractive here after having been cut in half over the last three and a half weeks. The VIX traded up as high as almost 36, I believe, into Christmas Eve, back on the 24th of December. As of now, it's trading right around under 18. At current levels, technically the VIX pattern still looks quite bullish. It looks just like a pullback within an ongoing basing pattern. And the market still has a number of different challenges ahead of it, not only technical, but also fundamental from a larger macro point of view. There's still increasing tension with the Chinese and not knowing whether these tariffs are going to be lifted or not. People are debating the end game for rate normalization and what the FOMC is doing. And we still have the standoff in the government, where the government's been shut down for the longest period ever. So there are a lot of potential reasons it could cause volatility to rear its ugly head yet again. And it's tough to really think that this has just been a quick 15% to 20% pullback in three months, and that it's off to the races. So with that in mind, we've seen almost an 11% rally now in stocks in the last three and a half weeks. It's been a terrific rally for those that chose to stay invested and/or buy dips. However, now we're at levels where increasingly it's getting a little bit more challenging. As I like to tell people, the easy part is done. Now comes the tough part. The S&P is now challenging the lows that we saw last November, along with the Dow, which is right near 2,630 on the S&P, a very important level technically. The markets have gotten short term overbought, but yet the weekly patterns and the monthly patterns remain negative. So that's a concern. Increasingly, everybody seems to think that something will happen with the tariffs and is trying to get back involved in the market. I just think that might be a little far fetched to think that we are going to move right back to new highs right away. So with that being in mind, it's tough, necessarily, to sell out of stocks and get short here. But I think an attractive way to play that is just by adding the VIX to your portfolio, by buying implied volatility, buying some gamma and Vega, using the options market as a way to potentially add that layer of exposure, in case risk starts to come back, we see the market turn back lower, that one is protected after something like the VIX has fallen in half in recent weeks. What are some technicals that you're looking at in terms of the market that suggest that volatility or something else might happen in the near future? Well, a couple of things. Interestingly enough, when you look at just the last week, the breadth of momentum has been very lackluster on this recent lift. The market had a good initial move off the lows. We were down at lows of near 2,350. Rallied up.
