Planeswalker Decks! Getting Started with Magic the Gathering

10:57
You guys ask me all the time what product to get started with magic. 1) download the game "Magic duels" on ipad, steam, or elsewhere to learn the rules 2) get either a deckbuilders toolkit and/or some 'planeswalker' intro decks for kaladesh and start from there. 3) find a friend and play that's the best way to get started!

How To Start Playing Magic: The Gathering - A Beginner's Guide To MTG

09:11
The Best Gaming Cases: http://youtu.be/2Aw3j3Mj5Ls A Guide To Playmats: http://youtu.be/0HOjmAB4WaA What Are The Best Binders: http://youtu.be/H5IauASYWjk The Best Card Sleeves: http://youtu.be/w-aAeIZSNWw How To Start Playing Magic: The Gathering - A Beginner's Guide The following is a 6 step guide to starting Magic: The Gathering from absolute scratch. This is not a video that teaches you how to play the game, but rather guides you in your purchases and decision making so that you can go from having never played Magic: The Gathering before, to being able to attend store events and regularly play games. Please note: As always, this video is only meant as guidance, not absolute rules. it is one path, one method of many, but it only a suggestion. It is designed with the goal of being able to play regularly at store events, but that may not be your own personal goal when it comes to Magic. Still, even if you are looking to achieve different things from this game, perhaps by seeing one path people can take, you might discover new ideas that help you meet your needs. The importance of friend or partner: If you'll allow me one more preamble, I'd like to stress the importance of having a friend or partner to play with. The most important thing you can do as a new player is...to play. Practice, practice, practice, and in order to do this, it helps to have a practice partner. Going into this game with a friend or lover is a huge advantage, as you'll always have someone to play with and learn with. I'm a major advocate of couples getting into Magic together, as it gives you both a fun and engaging activity that you can share with one another. If you don't know anyone who is interested in learning with you, or who already plays, don't despair. Magic is a highly social game. Hanging out at your local game store isn't just how you get in games, it is also how you meet people and make friends. So where do you begin from absolute scratch? Step 1: Buy Duels of the PlanesWalkers 2014 Step 2: Get 2 Quick Start Decks. Step 3: Join your store's league Step 4: Play a Draft Step 5: If a prerelease or launch is upcoming, attend. Step 6: Put your first standard deck together. A typical deck is usually composed of a minimum of 60 cards (100 for Commander). It is a game about building the best decks, exploring card combos and synergy. MTG - Is it worth it to buy a Rookie Deck for learning Magic: The Gathering?

Rookie Decks are made by the famous Card Kingdom, with brand new players in mind. Touted as ideal for casual, new and returning players, and priced at only 5.99 each, have Rookie decks finally cracked the code of where and how to start playing Magic the Gathering, or are they just glorified welcome decks, leaving new players with the same problems as every other product. Let’s take a look! But first a quick word about this video and this channel: as you know Card Kingdom is the sponsor of this channel, and this product I am talking about today is made by our sponsor. As always, while card kingdom’s support of the channel is appreciated, this review and my evaluation are just that: my own, Card Kingdom did not even get any advanced screening of this video prior to it going to air. If you do want to check out rookie decks, there’s a special link in the video description that takes you right to them and also tells card kingdom that you came from me, which helps convey to them that support of this channel is worth it. You absolutely don’t have to use this link to check out rookie decks, but it does help show the value of the channel if you do, so I thank. And now, let’s begin with…. What are Rookie Decks? Rookie Decks are simple 60-card decks, made primarily for new players of Magic The Gathering. Containing commons and uncommons, like Battle Decks they are not a part of any specific format, but unlike Battle Decks they are constructed not from draft archetypes, but instead with the very basics of gameplay in mind. These decks give players a chance to experience the game in a clear and entertaining way. Instead of highlighting mechanics from the new set, each deck is crafted around a single keyword with color defining spells and creatures, giving new players a sense of each color’s capabilities. Before I even delve into the cards themselves, these learner inserts are really great. To be learning magic and have this little reminder sheet next to you on a bright, clear, and best fo all easy to parse card is something really helpful to new players. Follow, remember, and learn turn order easily, and be able to review the key color mechanics not only of your deck, but of each color with these little study guides. ALso, all Rookie decks come packed in a clear plastic case, so you get a basic storage box along with the ready to play beginner’s 60 card deck. That is a lot of value for only 5.99. Or is it?

How to Build a Magic the Gathering Deck (beginners)

04:24
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/charalanahzard Twitter: https://twitter.com/charalanahzard COMPETITION ENDS ON THE 7th OF MARCH. Enormous thanks to Hasbro for the give-away opportunity, and the cards supplied in this video! So, this week I teach you guys (mostly beginners, though) how to make your first Magic the Gathering deck. This card game has existed for ages and I only got into it 2-3 years ago, but have had heaps of fun (mostly teaching others to play!). It's definitely a bit hard to get into since, from the outside, it seems quite complex. If you build a deck this way and then start playing with friends etc. you'll very quickly pick up how to play, what you need to change, what cards you like, what strategies you like, and what weaknesses your deck has. From the steps in this video, you really just need to test your stuff out and start buying more cards to get a FULLY SICK DECK YO! So hopefully this helps some people out :). What’s more, most of these commander decks contain a vast array of cards that have respectable financial value, or just are commander staples which makes upgrading the decks or building new commander decks using the pieces of these an acceptable and easy path for the player. Best of all, while power levels between the decks do vary, I maintain that there is no wrong answer when it comes to these commander precons. WHich one should I buy is a question i answer often with “Which one do you like the look and feel of? You can’t go wrong.” And I want to repeat that: You can’t go wrong. But still I am asked which are the best of the best, and so presented here are the top 5 commander decks you can purchase, based on power right out of the box. Note, these top 5 are all selling for above MSRP, some by a little, one by a lot, and I still encourage you to scour your local game stores and even online sellers to find those sweet deals of commander decks at 29 even 24.99 each, an amazing value every one of them. And with the Commander’s Anthology coming out in just a week, an expensive product with 4 of the classic commander decks in it plus a few other goodies, I thought I’d give a copy away to a subscriber. So if you’d like a free, brand new copy of the commander’s anthology all you have to do is be subscribed to this channel for a chance to win! As the name implies, Intro packs are intended to introduce newer players to Magic: The Gathering as well as introduce all players, new and old to new expansions, in this case Shadows Over Innistrad and its mechanics. Each Intro pack also contains an alternate art promo card to incentivise collectors, as well as attempting to provide players with beginning deck. But just how well do the intro packs of shadows over innistrad meet these important goals? Let’s take a look! An intro pack contains the following: one supposedly ready to play 60 card deck, a foil premium rare, 2 shadows over innistrad booster packs, and...not really anything else. A strategy insert and rules reference card, I guess. The average retail price for a Shadows Over Innistrad Intro Pack is 15.00 USD. If you were to walk up to the counter at your local game store and purchase 2 booster packs, they would be 4.00 each for a total of 8.00. The means that you are essentially paying $7.00 for the 60 card intro deck including the premium alternate art rare. A really good mental exercise in examining worth is simply to ask yourself, if the intro deck itself, without the booster packs, was for sale for $7.00, would you buy it? And if intro packs cost a different amount at your location, be it less or more, you can adjust accordingly. What’s just this 60 card deck worth to you? The 60 card decks contain 2 rares, one of which is the alternate art foil. The rest are a selection of commons and uncommons and of course a large amount of land in the pack’s colors. I’ve looked at the value of intro pack card rares in the past and found that, with the rarest of exception, they are usually always near worthless, oftentimes worth well under a dollar. For shadows over innistrad the rares and their current values are: What are the rest of the cards? One word answer: bulk. With very rare exception, intro packs are comprised of what is called bulk cards: mostly commons and some uncommons, none of which are any value and little of which ever sees any significant constructed play.

Nurturing dreams of one day making the Pro Tour? This video will give you a basic understanding of what it takes to travel the road to becoming a Pro Magic player. Many of the examples and numbers that I’m using mostly pertain to American players, so you may want to double-check with your local tournament organizers to see how this model is different for you. How and when do I begin? The first thing you need to do if you’d like to become Competitive is to understand what you’re signing up for. Competitive Magic takes a lot of time and investment, not just on a personal level, but monetary as well. You’ll usually need to invest in a competitive level deck, or perhaps several decks, which could cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Even if you play limited events, you’ll probably need to spend money on booster packs to help practice your skills. Events will sometimes cost money as well, so you’ll need to budget for that too. You’ll need to spend a significant amount of your time getting to know, test and understand the meta of whatever format you decide to compete in, Limited, Modern, Standard, Vintage, or Legacy. You’ll also need to understand the rules of Magic on a deeper level. You may also need to travel to not just local events, but events across the country - or even the world, on a regular basis. However, the rewards for competitive play are considerable and worth the effort. The competitive community is amazing, and full of people who share your passion and your drive. There’s also the glory of winning an event: name recognition, a sweet trophy, and accumulating Pro Points to get to the next level. Seeing yourself excel in an activity you love is invigorating, and there isn’t quite anything else like it. As long as you understand this level of commitment and you’re up for it, then all you really need to do is grab a deck and show up to a competitive event!

Deck Building For Beginners - Magic: The Gathering Arena ( MTG Arena )

10:17
What's goen on Malakies! Vnncz3 here and I'd like to firstly admit that I'm not a pro at this game nor do I ever claim to be. I do on the other hand feel like I have enough experience at the game to enable me to teach other people how to play the game and how to get better as a player. This video will be a beginners guide on how to build a deck that will actually work. I'm not going to promise you that you're going to win every match after watching this video. Instead, i'll promise that your win percentage will drastically go up as you master deck building as a whole regardless if the deck your using or going up against is net decked or brewed up. Before we get into the deck building guide i'd like to give you some advise that will even further more help you become a better player. Losing is part of the game. Understanding the "why" you lost is so much more important than telling yourself the "If" And what I mean by that is, phrases like "Only if I had 1 more land" Or "If I went first" The Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda, Approach will substantially stunt your growth as a player. Alrighty lets get into it. Some Questions you need to ask yourself is what Archetype you want to build what mana base do you need to support your archetype and finally whats your sideboard plan looking like? You have a choice between, Aggro, Control, Or Midrange. Building your mana base should be a main concern when deck building because you can't cast spells without the proper amount of mana. Mono Color decks usually have a much easier mana base to build then say a 2 or 3 color decks. In a 2 or 3 color decks you typically want your mana base to be able to provide 12 to 16 types of each mana source in it depending on how dominant the colors are. if it's just a 1 or 2 card splash then these numbers are way to high. You can achieve this by using dual lands and other types of nonbasic lands. In mono color decks you generally want 18 or more lands that produce the same mana you need to cast your spells and if youd like to fill in the rest of your lands with utility lands then that's quite alright.* I'll go into the gameplan of each archetype in a nutshell. Aggros gameplan is to get and stay ahead on the board until you win. You should almost never give up tempo for card advantag, because you dont really intend on playing into the late game. Midrange has a gameplan of adapt and overcome. Midrange isn't aggro nor is it control. Infact it's a bit of both put together. Your spells and creatures are generally really powerful so that they generate a large amount of value. Controls gameplan is to shut down your opponents gameplan by dismantling it with various removal and permission cards and then winning at it's convenience. Building a sideboard is a very tricky thing. You typically want to aim your sideboard against your bad and mirror matchups. What cards to add is entirely up to you but you should always keep your decks main plan in mind when building a sideboard. Just as an example. It doesn't make a lot of sense to add 15 creatures in a control players sideboard. The main goal of a control deck is to do exactly that. Control. but it doesn't hurt you to add a few creatures to your sideboard provided they go along with your plan or there used specifically against your really bad matchups. Lets look at a few net decks that have been proven to be successfull and then we'll build a deck of our own based off of what we have seen. I've been playing Magic: The Gathering (MTG) for a very long time (like 15+ years) and I'm absolutely loving Magic: The Gathering Arena (MTG Arena) because standard is my favorite format to play. The other formats are just to stale for me because they rarely ever change so I'm just not a fan of them. Also, the other formats are either combo or counter spell. Rarely do you ever get an honest match like you do in standard and I'm not a fan of that sort of meta.
