CSS Table Border Tutorial - Better Than HTML Table Borders

CSS Table Border Tutorial - Better Than HTML Table Borders https://youtu.be/WrmjwNIThW0 CSS code from the video: td { border:1px solid green; border-right:none; border-bottom:none; } td:nth-last-child(1) { border-right:1px solid green; } table { border-bottom:1px solid green; } CSS table border sets a border for your tables. You can set a table order right in the HTML as well, but it's not as versatile and doesn't look as good. The options available using table borders is the same as setting borders on any other elements. But adding border's to tables can be a little tricky. By that I mean you have add borders to some table cells and table rows. For example, if you just add border:1px solid black; to all table cells you will have a double border in the internal cells and a single border around the outside. So you have to instead apply border:1px solid block;border-right:none; This will ensure that you don't have double borders, but then there won't be a border on the right side of the table. So you'll have to add border-right to just the last cells on the right of the table. It's a bit of a pain to add borders to table and it takes a bit of work, but it's well worth it. So you have a lot flexibility with table borders. A couple things are important to keep in mind. 1. Proper border order. 2. The different border styles you can apply to each side independently using the same order as in point 1. 3. The ability to add border color to each side independently using the same order as in point 1. That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! Welcome back. We’re still working in module 6. We’re all the way down now to section 5 where I want to talk to you a little bit about borders and shading. You probably noticed when we were working on the table that you had borders automatically. As soon as you inserted the table you have black borders that print. Well I told you that you have the option to take those off. You can actually add different borders if you’d like just to really enhance your tables. So let me show you a little bit about how borders and shading work. One of the things we talked about was when you first insert a table you automatically will have borders around that table. Borders do print. So if you don’t want them you can take them off, you can actually add different types of borders, different styles, colors, things like that. I’m going to select this table and I’m under the Table Tools contextual tab, the Design tab here. And you can see this is your Borders grouping. I’m going to start with this Borders button here. First of all you’ll notice that several of these look like they’re turned on. This will allow you to put a border around the bottom of your selection, the top, left, right. If you don’t want one of these you just click on it to turn it off. Here’s how you take the border totally off, no border. And if you do that you’ll notice now you have grey what they call Gridlines. Now gridlines do not print. They’re just there to show you the outlines of your cells. Just so you’ll know, if you don’t even want to see the gridlines then you can actually go and turn the view for those on or off under the same Borders button. See how it says View Gridlines here? Well if I click on that now they’re off. Now it looks like there’s nothing there but the table is still there. Your cells still work the same way. It just really would look like nice, neat columns of information versus a table. I’ll go ahead and put these back on. I’m going to choose the outside border option and I’d also like to view those gridlines so that I can work with them a little bit easier. I’ll go down here and choose View Gridlines. Do you notice when I chose Outside Border there’s only a border that will print on the outside of my table? Now I want to apply a border around my header only. So I’ll select the first line, go back to Design and I’m going to choose again Outside Border but this time it’ll be just for the header. So borders are only around your selection, not necessarily each cell in your selection. Notice on this list that you can also apply inside horizontal or inside vertical borders and then you’ve got some diagonal ones you can apply that go sideways like this and then you can also put in a horizontal line. So those are your basic border options. That’s kind of nice but did you notice we can’t really pick a color here or a style, so that’s where it really gets interesting. I’m going to go to the bottom of the list where it says Borders and Shading and click. Now you’ll notice that I have Border options, Page Border options and Shading options. So I’m going to start with the border options. Sorry, we couldn't fit the entire video transcription here since YouTube only allows 5000 characters.

Border style of an HTML table can be changed by changing the style attribute in a table element. The style of the border is specified in the Cascading Style Sheets. There are a lot of border properties which can be applied to tables to create different border styles of the tables and their cells. Here in this tutorial we will discuss those various styles used in html for table borders. Step 1: Set Standard Border of a Table In order to set a standard border of a table, we set borders in the style attributes and the width of the border as 1 px. The third option lets us specify the color of the border. These three options can be used in html for table borders . Standard borders are 1 px in width and solid black in color. Step 2: Set Border around cells A standard border is a black outline around the table. In order to set a border around a cell of the table, we set the style as a border in the cell separately. The same is the case with the width of the border and the color of the border. The three options can altered for each of the cells separately to create different styles of border. Step 3: Removing Double Lines in a Border If the borders have been set twice, a double line will appear at the border. In order to set a single border, we apply the Cascading Style Sheet's border collapse property in the style attribute of each cell, separately. Step 4: Other Border Properties There are a lot of other properties of table border styles in HTML which can be applied to tables and their cells. Borders can be made curvy and aligned to one side of the table by using these border properties.

These alignments properties are assigned by different type of ExcelBorderStyle class properties. For Example: Thin, Medium, Thick, DashDot, DashDotDot, Dashed, Dotted, Double, Hair, MediumDashDot, MediumDashDotDot, MediumDashed, none. Example: --------------- ExcelRange Rng = new ExcelRange(); Rng.Style.Border.Top.Style = ExcelBorderStyle.Thin; Rng.Style.Border.Left.Style = ExcelBorderStyle.Medium; Rng.Style.Border.Right.Style = ExcelBorderStyle.Thin; Rng.Style.Border.Bottom.Style = ExcelBorderStyle.Thick; *By default Epplus support none border, if you are not specify any border style. Now next question in our mind, how to apply cell border color? Example: Rng.Style.Border.Top.Color.SetColor(Color.Red); Here SetColor method can support structure Color property as a parameter. You can also specify the HTML Color code. For Example: --------------------- Color DeepBlueHexCode = ColorTranslator.FromHtml("#254061"); Rng.Style.Border.Top.Color.SetColor(DeepBlueHexCode); In this example FromHtml() directly accept HTML RGB (Red Green Blue) color Code. CSS Borders: CSS attribute, allow you to completely customize the borders that appear around HTML elements. With HTML, it used to be impossible to place a border around an element, except for the table. Border-style Border-width Border-color Border Styles: The border-style property specifies what kind of border to display. The following values are allowed: dotted  dashed  solid  double  groove  ridge inset  outset  none  hidden  Border-color: You customize the Border colors using css property called border-color. Margins: A margin defines the white space around an HTML element's border. CSS has properties for specifying the margin for each side of an element: margin-top margin-right margin-bottom margin-left All the margin properties can have the following values: auto - the browser calculates the margin length - specifies a margin in px, pt, cm, etc. inherit - specifies that the margin should be inherited from the parent element. CSS Padding:: A padding is the space between an element's border and the content within it. Padding - Individual Sides:- CSS has properties for specifying the padding for each side of an element: padding-top padding-right padding-bottom padding-left All the padding properties can have the following values: length - specifies a padding in px, pt, cm, etc. inherit - specifies that the padding should be inherited from the parent element CSS Height and Width: The Height and width properties are used to set the height and width of an element. You can even use the colors and borders for excel to make one cell stand out against the others or color code information. Follow this step by step tutorial to learn how to apply fonts, background colors and borders in Excel. Step # 1 -- Click on the "page layout" button In excel Microsoft, we will look at the three kinds of views that you can use, by going to the lower right corner of the sheet. The middle button is for the "page layout" view. If you press this button, the page layout view will help you view how the sheet will appear when it is printed. Step # 2 -- Applying the merge and center feature Working with headings can often be slightly tricky as one aims to make them stand out against the plain text placed in the worksheet. It is important to make sure the heading is placed in centre of the sheet. Now select all the cells from "A1" to "G1" and then press the "merge and center" button which is given in the "alignment" group under the "home" tab. Step # 3 -- Choosing the text color Different colors can also be applied to the heading and in order to do so, click on the heading cell and then click on the text color button which is given in the "fonts" group. A drop down menu will appear in front of you displaying a variety of colors. Click on any one of them in order to apply it to the selected text. Step # 4 -- Choosing the background color In order to change the background color of the cell in which the heading is placed, click on the "fill color" button. From the "colors" drop down menu, click on any one color to apply it to the cell background. Step # 5 -- Opening the border tab When working with borders for excel and wanting to apply borders to the selected cells, right click on the chosen cell and then click on the "format cells" option. You can even do so by going to the "borders" button given in the "font" group. A dropdown menu will now appear from where you must select the "more borders" option. From the dialogue box that appears, go to the "border" tab and select the specific border you would like to apply to the cells. Step # 6 -- Applying borders to selected cells If you highlight the cells and then click on the border button, borders will be applied to all the selected cells in one go. In this case, we have selected the "all borders" option to be applied to a certain range of cells.

In this section, we’re going to finish off our review of the basics of formatting a worksheet and we’re going to concentrate on Borders in this section. But before we do, there’s just one other little thing I want to cover on Styles. In the previous section, we applied a style to a couple of the heading and a couple of columns on this worksheet and we also applied some direct formatting to the Cost and Recharge columns. If you want to remove a cell style, it’s pretty straightforward. Let’s take this particular one. We applied a cell style to the category cells here. If I go into the Cell Styles Command in the Styles Group on the Home tab, if at any stage you want to remove the style from a cell, all you have to do is select Normal. And when you select Normal, then the Style selection you previously applied is removed and the cell style, the default cell style is Normal. Pretty much the same as it is in a program like Word. So every cell by default has a format of Normal and you’re applying other than normal styles to achieve the sort of affects that we’ve looked at so far. The main formatting option I want to look at in this section is the use of borders and borders can provide a very good way of focusing attention on to the key points of a worksheet and also can help to segregate data and data types. If we take this particular expenses sheet that we’ve got here, if I were to select all of the cells that actually have data in them, so I’m going to start at A1, mouse down and drag down to F8. So I’ve got everything selected. I can apply a border very simply. If you look on the Home tab in the Font Group there is here a Bottom Border button or what appears to be a Bottom Border button. But if I click on the drop down, I’ll see that I actually have a whole range of border options. Now the reason that it says Bottom Border there on the button is that when you select one of the border options the one you select becomes the one on that button. It gives you a one click access to one of these many options. Now let’s look at some of the options. If I’ve got a group of cells selected which at the moment I have and I were to just click, for example, Bottom Border. Let me do that and click away. What you should be able to make out is that there is now a border but only at the bottom of the group of cells that I had selected. Let me select again. Now this time what I’m going to do is I’m going to select All Borders. Now watch what happens this time. Now again I’ll click away and you’ll now see that I have a full set of borders everywhere and this also emphasizes, of course, the merged cell in the first row. So that’s basically how borders work and it shows you how straightforward it is to put borders on a selection. Now sometimes you may want something other than the default bordering that occurs with Excel 2013 and you can actually change a lot of aspects of the bordering. For example, let’s suppose that I wanted to really emphasize the Cost column here. If I select that column with its heading of Cost and go back into the drop down next to the Borders button; note the Borders button is now All Borders because that’s the last Command I executed. Click on there and this time say Thick Box Border, click away. You notice that the outer box border on those selected cells is now thicker than the others. Sorry, we couldn't fit the entire video transcription here since YouTube only allows 5000 characters.

Formatting Tables

04:17
Hello! Today I will be discussing and demonstrating a few multimodal sets of instructions for how to use the more advanced features of Microsoft Word. Nested Tables: The first Microsoft Word feature to be demonstrated is a nested table. This is simply a table within another table. I will show you how to create one step-by-step. First, create a table by pressing the insert tab in the upper left-hand corner and press TABLE. Now, within your table, inside a column, press the insert tab and create another table within the column. This is now a nested table. Cell Splitting: This next feature is cell splitting. This feature allows you to split cells into multiple cells. What you will need to do first is create a table. Next, click inside the column then press the layout tab that now appears under TABLE TOOLS. In the merge section under the layout tab, press split cells. You now have the option to choose how many rows and columns you would like to split the cells into. Merging Cells: This video shows how to merge cells. It is mostly used when a title needs to be centered in a specific section. Before we begin, it is important to remember that when cells are not adjacent to each other, they cannot be merged. Start by selecting the cells in the table you would like to merge. Then in the merge section under the layout tab, press merge cells. Styling Tables: Let's now discuss table styles. To apply a style to a table, you must first click the design tab in the table tools. You will get to table tools once you click on the table. Next, in the design tab, go to the table styles section and change to the desired style. Modifying a Cell Border: This video will cover modifying a cell border. To create and modify borders, you need to go to the design tab first. In the design tab, you must go to the border section. In this section there are a number of options to select while creating or modifying a cell border. You can select the border styles section and choose a theme for a border. Then the pointer will change to a brush and you can select where you want to add a theme. In the border section there are options for different border styles. You could have a bottom border, top, left, right, inside, and diagonal. You can select the cells that you want to add by clicking on a cell and dragging it. You can also select the side of the border and color of the pen. Shading a Table: Lastly, I will show you how to apply shading to a table. This is important as it makes information and data easier to read and locate. Select the cells that you want to change then go to the design tab and click on the shading button. In the shading button, click on the desired color you want for the table. You can also click on no color or more colors.

Padding & Margin - Web design tutorial

Padding and margin enable you to add space inside (padding) or outside (margin) of an element's boundary. These properties make it possible to create responsive websites whose content reflows while maintaining consistent spacing. Here we’ll cover 5 ways to add margin and padding in Webflow: 1. Spacing individual sides 2. Spacing opposite sides 3. Spacing all sides at once 4. Negative margin 5. Auto margin ---------- Get started with Webflow: https://help.webflow.com/courses/getting-started http://webflow.com http://twitter.com/webflow http://facebook.com/webflow

Html New Video Tutorials part 9 Html Tables

19:29
Please watch: "How to Track cell or mobile number free Without Installing Any App" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwV2-G5XUdc -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Note:All tags would have starting and ending brackets which are generally used for tags. An HTML table is defined with the table tag. Each table row is defined with the tr tag. A table header is defined with the th tag. By default, table headings are bold and centered. A table data/cell is defined with the td tag. The td elements are the data containers of the table. They can contain all sorts of HTML elements; text, images, lists, other tables, etc. If you do not specify a border for the table, it will be displayed without borders.
