A short video demonstrating how to use a button hook to button up Victorian style boots - in this case the boots are lovely Tavistocks from American Duchess! enjoy :-) Although it is customary to put boots before corset for comfort sake, here you can see the corset already on - just not laced. it is possible to put on corset before boots - it all depends on how flexible the wearer is :-)

Button Boots & How To Fasten them with a Button Hook

03:23
Learn all about the history and how to wear Button Boots here: https://gentl.mn/buttonboots-guide We will discuss button boots. How you wear them and particularly how you open and close them using a button hook. Button boots - Hay day in Victorian times and before. - Usually worn with formal morning wear such as a stroller suit or a morning coat. - Features a black leather then an off white, sand or white suede insert that was a stark contrast. - In recent years, button boots have made a revival and they are now paired with jeans, suits and come in different colors and patterns. - It can be worn with a huge range of outfits with different formalities. - There are no laces and it's a tricky technique to put them on properly. How to Button the Button Boot: 1. Open your button boot all the way. I suggest you wear them with over the calf socks because otherwise, your skin sticks to the leather lining which is quite uncomfortable. 2. Get your button hook through the hole. It doesn’t matter which direction you insert it. 3. Take your button, hook it in the shank underneath the button. Turn clockwise or counterclockwise. 4. Once you have closed your first button, you simply repeat the process. Unbuttoning the boot: All you need are your fingers. With one hand, pull up the leather and with the other index finger simply push the button through the hole. Pulling up helps to open up the button hole more and it’s easier to push the button through. Buttoning the boot with no Button hook: Be prepared that it takes a little longer and it eats more finger strength. It basically works the same way as unbuttoning it. You simply pull the leather and push the button through from the bottom. It helps to keep one side to the button already on the edge of the button hole so you can more easily push it through. #buttonboots #bootsformen #notsponsored --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most Popular videos: How to accept a compliment - https://youtu.be/_EKXNmM1PUo 101 things that change when you dress up - https://youtu.be/JyGDd_iYaCI How to tie a Bow Tie - https://youtu.be/2I3cfa0BOOc --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? Grandmother's Buttons 2013-2014 | Back of Beyond

01:14
The bold styles of mid-century costume jewelry informed our design process this year, leading to pieces of greater substance and visual impact. As always, antique buttons are front and center, but they are encased here in locally hand-cast settings that borrow from a bevy of design lexicons: Byzantine to Victorian, Native American to Classical. We think you will love these statement pieces that honor both the buttons and the best of vintage costume jewelry! http://www.grandmothersbuttons.com Music: Native America: http://nativeamericamusic.bandcamp.com Art Director: Lindsey Smith Photographer: Anna Addison Photography Hair: Vicki Beechler Makeup: Eric Vosburg Model: Rachel Taravella Styling: Kara Breaux Styling Assistant: Sharime Jobe

Attempting to Upholster a Victorian Settee Set

22:43
Going a little outside my comfort zone with this project! My first attempt at working on furniture. It was a bit of an adventure and I filmed the whole process. ✩Things mentioned✩ Wood Stain (this is an affiliate link): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0063KFJHK/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0063KFJHK&linkCode=as2&tag=angeclay04-20&linkId=5d3b1a5bd0242b62d2d91089c1e684ca Wood Wax (this is an affiliate link) : https://www.amazon.com/Howard-FW0016-Feed-N-Wax-Conditioner-16-Ounce/dp/B001BKQYGW/ref=as_sl_pc_tf_til?tag=angeclay04-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=75bd4ce16b3eacd4ecc601a62b471bed&creativeASIN=B001BKQYGW I was really pleased with both those products (though I don't have a lot to compare them to). I bought them myself from a local hardware store. Buttons : https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-of-50-Vintage-NOS-Waterbury-Company-Buttons-5-8-Stafford-Crest-w-shank/122681433541?hash=item1c90621dc5:g:Xj0AAOSwCY9ZqZhT The velvet was from a shop that closed in the garment district. The gimp was from Daytona Trims in NYC. As I said in the video, the couches themselves were from Lloyd's Antiques which is on Long Island. After filming this I discovered a mark on the bottom of the chair that says "1880 3 piece Settee Set, saved from destruction in 2002" so that is probably when the foam and beams were added! Between the horsehair and molded tacks I feel pretty confident in saying these are truly from the victorian era. But if any historical furniture enthusiasts know more I'd love to learn! I'm not sure where the tools were from, I just borrowed them from my dad! But the staples themselves were from Home Depot. ✩✩✩ If you are interested in seeing more of my work or contacting me, I'll leave links to my various sites below! Doorbell Button How to replace and install

04:21
White Model→ http://amzn.to/2dYVmAN Similar designed doorbell→ http://amzn.to/2edg8u0 Ikea Screwdriver→ http://amzn.to/2f9oUhB One would think that this has to be the easiest repair ever. It can be, but it is often a bit of a pain because the wire that is often used us very cheap and brittle. If you bend copper wire too much it breaks. And when it comes to the wires often found behind a doorbell button, there is not much there in the first place. You also can rarely pull more from out of the wall so be careful with it. Also if you are replacing a high-profile button, it usually that means that you won't be able to mount a low-profile button. Because low-profile buttons stick out the back and need a hole in the wall to be able to fit. I ended up placing a block of wood on my wall so that the button was not mounted crooked on the siding and also I would now be able to mount a low-profile button. The first button I installed was model number: DP1234A and I don't recommend it.
