I like how you have background that match your hair color, and it make it impossible to use this tool to remove background from screenshot of you.

OMG I love this! Thank you soo much! I'd just got the hang of masks and selection then got stuck on a tree. I now have three methods to use to get rid of backgrounds and I LOVE this one!

Good tutorial. But this tool sucks compared to even the Magic Wand. It requires too much effort just to achieve a half decent effect. Plus it's not parametric, i.e. you cannot edit the changes at a later date. That's why very few people cover the Background Removal Tool in tutorials. It's just not used by people who have to use Photoshop everyday. Some tools in Photoshop are more interesting rather than useful.
The fact that i dont know if this is real or not scares me
xia vite (1 day ago)
that's how i used it to the hair with the eraser tool and to the body i used pen tool.. it is still better when you used pen tool in selecting the fine edges..

PiXimperfect C'mon, you know this is a setup. No one's hair removal files look like that when they zoom in: flyaways so clear?! You are bullshitting. Guide the people.

You man are amazing. Please make videos step by step, do not directly to sample or experiment.
Doodles (4 days ago)
Well, even though I can't deny this is a great tutorial, sadly this tool is not as magical as it looks here since it only works well here because the background is green. Basically it's just a more complex green screen made for this purpose. How would you do it if this light blonde girl would have been on a white studio background? or just a light grey sky?
awesome tutorial....thanks for the sharing

This guy give me the same vibe as Bob Ross with his paiting program. Great stuff over there.
Daniel De Lauretis (5 days ago)
it only works if the background is not too irregular. otherwise is not that good. In the case of the blonde, first pic, the contrast is quite detectable... green against her blonde hair
daniel dunbar (5 days ago)
c'mon commenters, don't give this guy so much credit, this photo is practically cut out from the background as it is. Basically any smart cutting out tool will give this image a clean shave.

Photoshop is not that great, its only popular because the herd on Facebook parrot the name. Corel make superior products.

Have followed your instructions to the letter, however the brush also removes the hair and everything else. I am using Photoshop CC2019. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Henry litke (6 days ago)
if you do end up accidentally erasing something you didn't want to with the background eraser tool, or any tool that changes the image, you can control/command+z to undo if you just did it or there is an "art history" brush tool which will repair an image to the same as it was when it was first opened (or whatever step you set for the history brush). the only con to this tool is that it will not work if the image has been cropped or has altered dimensions

Would this work to remove unwanted lens flare in an image?
WaifuShork (7 days ago)
I didn't actually search for this >.> it just popped in my recommended, it's a cool method but I'll never work without a mask...like ever, masks are the literal saving grace to my entire career.

Oof, my photoshop class showed this tool and we had to apply it to pictures of ourselves. It was a nightmare to use. After spending hours trying to get it to work I'm baffled at how you're using it so easily

Slarti Bartfast (7 days ago)
a good tutorial, thank you for that. you talk a little bit fast sometimes but the information is very well presented.
Mark Davis (7 days ago)
Too Fast! SLOW DOWN!
@4:30 never mind lol.
@3:50 When you've sampled the color from the back (single sample), are the channels for the color sampled affected in the hair color mix or is the tool only going to erase a specific color mix within a set of parameters- i.e. does it ignore the hair completely?
